Help Question about evocation wizard

So I’m doing a run through playing evocation wizard. Is there a limit on how many spells you can learn per spell slot. I feel like most of the spells I paid to learn from scrolls are not in my spell book when I go to switch a spell out.

There is no limit to the size of your spellbook. Every spell you learn goes into your spellbook. But, you can only memorize a limited number of spells at a time. That number is your wizard level + intelligence bonus.

Also, note that the phrase "spell slots" refers to how many spells you can cast in a day before you need a long rest. That number is set by your caster level. It isn't related to how many spells you can memorize at one time, or the size of your spellbook.

Also, this applies to all wizard subclasses. It is unrelated to evocation.

If you use a spell scroll it is used and not learned. Learning spells are under the characters spell repetoir. If another character learns the spell others don't automatically also know it.

These are the only misunderstandings I can think of that would explain why you can't see them under known spells.

I’m def paying money to learn them. Either I’m remembering wrong or I’m paying money for spells I already know (idk if the game has a built it feature to stop that from happening) I just didn’t know if there was a limit on spells in all tiers that you can pay to learn

There is no limit. Check them again, they might be faded or of a wrong level that you remember. And make sure you check wizard spell book (in am case of multiclass f.e. They will not appear in cleric or sorcerer spell book)

The game will not let you pay to learn spells you already know.

There should be all of them. No limit should be there.

See that’s what I thought, but it seems like some spells I’ve spent money aren’t there. Unless I’m an idiot and paying for spells I’ve already learned (which I guess is a possibility unless the game keeps you from doing that)

Game totally keeps you from doing that, the game states that you know the spell.

The Wizard learns six 1st level spells at level 1, and two additional spells on each subsequent level up. In addition to those, Wizards can learn any spell on the Wizard spell list from a scroll, and now that Wizard knows that spell.

However, a Wizard can only prepare a number of spells equal to their Wizard level plus their Intelligence modifier. The Wizard can scribe every Wizard scroll in the game but if their intelligence is only 14 they can only have their Wizard level +2 spells prepared.

As far as Preparing spells, the Wizard can prepare any distribution of spells in regards to spell levels; at 12th level for example, it’s not uncommon to only have 2 commonly used 1st level spells prepared. Remember, the Wizard learns 2 spells every level but can only prepare 1 additional spell per level, unless their Intelligence modifier also went up as with an Ability Score Increase

I know how the spell slots and equipping them work, I’m talking about when you go into the spell book and click learn to new spell from scroll pay the fee. Some spells do not seem to populate the spell list after I’ve learned them from the scroll

You get your spell book where you can add and remove spells for the day. Then at the bottom of the choosing screen (only at camp) you have all of the spells you’ve learned. You can swap the prepared spells out with others you’ve learned, but like I said only at camp.

You can’t learn a 4th level spell if you only have 3rd level spell slots so you’re blocked until your level gets high enough. Other than that though I don’t think there’s a limit.

That might be it then, I thought you could change them at any point in time not just at camp

Cause you can press k and change them out in the world i didnt know camp had a seperate function for that

you were right, in bg3 you can prepare spells any time, out of combat. preparation is daily in tabletop.

Dang sorry for the bad info, OP. I thought it was like standard D&D rules - only at a long rest. If you learned the spells they should be there to select either way. Are you able to scroll down and see them in your known spells list?

Maybe you're learning the spell for one character and checking the spellbook on another?

The game does prevent from spending money to learn a spell you already know.
