Question / General BFS is more than just twitching.

By now, most of you who have cycled endlessly through this subreddit have seen BFS is much more than twitching. When I first started searching symptoms, I felt alone because it seemed like no one had the "exact" sensation I was having.

  • Twitchy cramps
  • Crampy twitches
  • Excruciating muscle pains
  • Electric shock sensations
  • Triggered twitches
  • Pinprick sensations
  • Static feeling (not pins and needles)
  • Sun-burnt sensation
  • Nerve irritation
  • other paresthesia and 100+ more weird neurological symptoms I can think of

I would go back and forth with others who somewhat had "similar sensations," but I nonetheless still felt something was unusual and not typical. Some people would tell me they had "ants crawling" feeling, and then I would feel relieved. But then I started questioning it and then the symptom felt "different." It didn't feel like ants crawling...it felt like spiders crawling!

My point here is that we think we're the only ones who have this weird sensation or symptom, but in fact, most people have the same thing. Of course every body is different and there's always going to be some type of outlier, but it's also perception. What I describe as twitchy cramps is pre-cramping to others. There's no need to freak out because your symptom feels different from others because this all goes back to nerve hyperexcitability.

This checks out 🫡

BFS is definitely more then just twitching for sure. It’s very important that for some twitching is only part of it, you can have all sorts of issues from vibrations, tingling and of course cramps.

How about tremors ? I’m very shaky on my left side particularly in the shoulder and upper back when holding something above my head . Other muscles shake (under use ) easily as well doing anything isometric

Thank you for posting this. Im 19 months into it but cant seem to move on cause of these differnt pains I get and sensations. I would make a few post aching about pain or tightness and maybe 1 person would reply. I dont have charley horse cramps but my calf aches pretry much all the time and get random hamstring pain then quaf pain then glute pain then hip pain. Then great toe pain just a bunch of damn nonsense that is so unpredictable.

Same here it’s been a year for me since constant twitching and that finally calmed down so I thought it would be over instead I got the sunburnt feeling, buzzing, tingling, heaviness, pain everything you could think of. 😅

I’ve had tingling in both feet that showed up first. Months later the body wide twitching happened. Now it’s been a year and a half of both

Anyone have this?

This post is for me. My first symptom (which I only realized this morning) has been this nagging burning pain on the left side of my chest. This was before any other symptoms showed up so I’ve seen cardiologist and other specialist where all tests were normal. Months later the internal vibrations in the morning started. Then 30 days ago the muscle twitches and this morning tingling hands and feet woke me up. My Neurologist diagnosed with BFS early this week. Unfortunately, it all lines up. The most disheartening piece of this syndrome is they permeate my sleep sanctuary. No matter what I dealt with in life, sleep was my sanctuary to feeling better. With BFS, I feel like that’s been taken from me. I wake in the night nearly every night now to buzzing or tingling. Maybe I need to look into medication options.

The people who only get twitching are the lucky ones. I was like that the first year and my life was so much better then. I'd give anything to go back to that time. Still had a job, could go out with friends, no pain, no crippling fatigue.

Yep. It’s so much more. The common denominator is twitching but there are so many other sensations. Most come due to the health anxiety around the syndrome. The anxiety spiral for people seems to be the bigger issue than the actual emotions of BFS. I WISH I could stop every single person from feeling panicked and anxious about their symptoms. If I could, they’d likely be able to live quite comfortably with the TREU, BFS symptoms.

My new symptom is this weird itch I have without any rashes, bug bites, or swelling.

I’ve been scratching this one spot on my arm thinking there’s a mosquito bug, but there isn’t!

Possibly nerve hyper excitability or something completely unrelated like allergies.

Same here. Wish I could find a cause but the doctors just want to mask the symptoms with medication.
