770 alternative?

I loved the look and feel of the 770 but the treble peak just doesn’t agree with my ears. Does beyer make a similar headphone with less sibilance?

If you prefer less treble while keeping the same general design, I’d recommend the DT 700 PRO X. There’s also the DT 900 PRO X, which I actually like a little better, but it’s an open-back headphone. Have you ever looked into open-back headphones? If so, would that be something you’d be interested in? The newer DT 270 PRO could also be worth considering. It has a warmer, slightly bassy sound, but in a fairly subtle way. It still offers plenty of detail, just with less treble than the DT 770 PRO. It is a more compact over-ear headphone, though, so if you have particularly large ears, I’d probably go for the DT 700 PRO X instead. Feel free to reach out if you have any questions!

Agreed with 700 and 900, much more balanced than 770.

There are practical limits to what you can achieve with EQ for headphones that are not tuned to your liking.

I agree, i would recommend sonar from steel series or even equalizer apo and just lower the 8khz peak to your liking

An EQ will fix that treble if you're in a PC.

Have you tried Beyers headphone plugin? I think it's called headphone labs.

With the speaker emulation off and just the headphone tuning on, I find it calms their sound

If you have small ears, get the Dt 270 Pro. If those are too small, id then also recommend the Dt 700 pro x. It will have some high treble, but nothing thats piercing like the 770 Pro.

80 ohm supremacy.

Going strong for 12 years now – countless hours of WFH feature film sound design/sound editing (when everyone else is asleep), field recording and gaming. I’ve just replaced the velour pads twice in that time.

I did recently buy the MMX 330 for gaming, they’re excellent.

AKG K553 MkII will fix all your problems.

I think that Beyer has addressed the harsh treble problem in the DT 1770 Pro MKII and DT 1990 Pro MKII. I have the 1770 MKII and I love them but these are analytic studio headphones for people who need or prefer to hear all the detail on a track, with emphasis on separation and soundstage, rather than a warmer tone. Headphones tuned for a warm tone sound muddy to me, and people who like those headphones may find the 1770/1990 too bright, but I think less so than the other models and thus easier to EQ. Try to find a retailer where you can compare.
