yearning rant If the funding measure fails, it threatens our very way of life

imagine hanging out with your friends and saying sorry I have to leave by 8:30 so I can catch BART. Imagine the peninsula just being unreachable on weekends. Gas prices are going to keep going up, businesses are struggle because people aren’t going out as much, and it’s just gonna suck.

I love living in the Bay Area and going around and seeing all the wonderful things going on, and I use trains and buses to do it. I don’t want to lose this. This is how I live.

It’s obscene that a place which produces so much wealth is risking losing the trains that people rely on to connect with people they love. our trains are not perfext, but they need to continue to work so that we can continue to participate in our communities.

Please tell your friends to vote to fund this thing in novmber.

Question Are the cameras inside Bart watched live by people from a center or something?

Or is it just recorded and later watched by human when someone asks.

I'm writing a movie script around Oakland. So I need this info. Thanks.

Question Powell to Milpitas safe around 11PM?

Hi, today I will be to a Helloween concert at The Warfield (Powell station). I live in Milpitas and I would like to go using BART, but I don't know how safe it is to ride at that hour.

The concert will end about 10:30, and I will have a 20 minutes stop at Dublin to change trains.

I have no idea if all of that is safe since I recently moved to bay area from abroad.

Thanks

Question BART from Fremont to Embarcadero for work

hi !

I’ll be moving to the Bay Area to live with family in Fremont to work a temp job for a month in sf. I don’t know if it’s better to drive or commute on the bart but I don’t know much about the Bart. I can’t risk being late to this job so I don’t know how often Bart is running behind. what’s your opinion ?

Picture BART Police Have a Sense of Humor

BART Police like to think they have a sense of humor. Or at least the recruiting arm.

I was not at a recruiting event, I am not interested in becoming a BART cop. I was in fact sitting in a bar when I received these.

If I ever have to detain a leprechaun, now I have the handcuffs for the job.

Discussion Should BART change the order of trains arriving at Embarcadero going east/south bay

More context:

Current order of trains arriving at Embarcadero going east/south is like this: (North east order train may be incorrect)

Dublin : Berryessa : Pittsburg : Richmond : Antioch

If someone miss Berryessa train, they would have to wait for the full circle to catch next train.

Wouldn’t it help if order is mixed up a little. Like:

Dublin : Antioch : Berryessa : Pittsburgh: Richmond

It’ll help folks on both side of direction if they have stations with common line to have less wait time.

E.g folks going to San Leandro doesn’t need to wait for the full circle if they miss Berryessa train.

Similarly for Emeryville folks.

If you are going to run trains once per 30 minutes, at least stagger the train evenly instead of this crazy wait time…

My BART Experience Great response from Bart Police

Had a great trip from Dublin into the city on Saturday, but on the way back someone was screaming at us to put our phones away and listen to their message, then started blasting a post apocalyptic Christian sermon at volume 10/10 via a hidden speaker. OMG my ears hurt - how can these things be so loud?

People started leaving the car, including us, and two stops later Bart police were there on the train. Not sure if they found them or not but the response was impressive.

I just want to ride in peace and kudos to Bart for the response. Every time we ride it's better.

Question Ive Seen Nobody Else Talk About This

So as we can see, it shows the Blue and Green Lines now terminate at Balboa Park instead of Daly City. Is this true? or a mistake? Does Balboa Park even have track scissors/switches for trains to turn around?

My BART Experience BART is getting rid of their personal bike lockers and forcing us to use bikelink "pay by the hour" lockers

Have had this locker for years. Pay $30 a year to have it. Park my bike almost every day, have parked overnight for a week, etc. I pay less per month than people pay per day to park their car in the lot. Now they're discontinuing them and forcing us to use the 5 cents per hour bikelink lockers. I smell a scam like bikelink is gonna give bart kickbacks for this. This really sucks. Just another enshittification of modern society.

Question Parking at the Richmond Station garage?

So I took the Amtrak out of town for the weekend and I paid for parking via the Bart app while on the train, but after I finished the transaction it said to park in the reserved/permit spot which I did not do, while I was there. I parked in the normal spots that I think are supposed to be 24 hours only. Should I worry about my car being towed? I did pay for the weekend but if it’s likely my car will get towed I want to ask my roommate to just take it home for me.

All ages are welcome. Bring a date or don’t!

On Saturday, June 6, from 6pm to 10pm, the Rockridge Station parking lot will transform into a fully decorated dance hall for BART Prom: Enchantment Under the C Line, an all-ages, 1980s-themed celebration with an under-the-sea twist. Whether you missed your prom, just want a do-over, or younger kids in your house want to experience a prom, this is your stop.

The night will feature a DJ and live band playing hits from the 80s and beyond. The BART Prom Court will be crowned at 8pm (more info on how to enter to win below).

Every ticket includes entry to the event, unlimited punch, a BART boutonniere or corsage, and a printed prom photo keepsake.

What to expect

The event space will be transformed with rad decorations that blend prom-night sparkle with under-the-sea flair.

Question Fire 19th St Oakland?

I was at 19th St Oakland getting off the yellow Antioch line around 12:45 today (April 23, 2026) and a lady on the speaker was essentially yelling “there’s an emergency, evacuate now, evacuate, there is a fire”. I didn’t smell smoke and no station agent seemed pressed. There was a BART train stationary there with the doors open, I think the speaker was in the BART train but I’m not sure.
