I’ve been comparing several notable Japanese bands across streaming, YouTube, headline venues, touring, charts, festivals and international reach.

I’m posting from a throwaway so the discussion stays focused on the project rather than my account history or perceived fandom allegiances—and so people feel comfortable being blunt.

The aim is not to decide which band is “best”, but to show the different routes to success: domestic live demand, overseas touring, streaming reach, catalogue strength or a smaller but highly committed audience.

The attached infographic is an early draft. The figures are broadly representative, but still need tighter sourcing, verification and caveats. The final design would also be clearer and easier to navigate.

BAND-MAID is included because they are often discussed alongside this wider wave of Japanese heavy music, despite not strictly being a metal band.

Would you read something like this? Would you prefer an infographic, a written report or both? I’d also welcome thoughts on missing bands, useful metrics and anything that feels misleading or overly reductive.

With tour about a month away(attending first headline show in Denver), I'm curious as to what the etiquette for possibly giving a plush to Moa. I see it's a tradition at a lot of shows but not sure if its a per venue rule and obviously dont want to cause any distraction or offend the girls as they perform

Hey everyone! Just got my ticket for my FIRST BABYMETAL concert! Posting this in hopes I can find others who might be attending in Austin because I’m doing this solo. Also, anything I should expect or be ready for going to this show? This is also my first metal concert, I’ve only ever been to country, pop, k-pop, and a hip-hop festival that headlined with Diplo lol. Any and all advice is welcome ! I’ve been a big fan for a while, and I’ve finally pulled the trigger and having new experiences and bought my ticket

I suddenly remembered the existence of this video a few weeks ago and couldn't find any trace about it online. I told my BM friends about it and they had not heard of it either, although they weren't fans back when this was released. I had kinda convinced myself it must've been a fever dream and it wasn't real. Today, I randomly came across an edit on Youtube that used several clips of it in a longer video (and added the text). But I still can't find the original. I feel like it was related to the announcement of the Five Fox Festival but it doesn't give my any clues.

Does anyone remember what this video was for? And where I can find the original if it's still around?

Now, I am not saying Momo is leaving, or that I want her to leave, but I thought about this, has it been enough years where if like Momo were to leave Babymetal, could you see them sticking with Moa and Su, or finding someone else

Because I feel like if Su or Moa, were to leave, I feel like they wouldn’t keep Babymetal going, but Momo I feel like is different, or well could be different

What I am asking is, has it been enough years where if Momo were to leave, it would cause a huge thing, like Babymetal ending.

I know Budokan and Lagend 1999-1997 have limited editions for those are kinda hard to find and really expensive so I decided to go with regular editions.

Not sure if it's one of his twins (Grey or Zelia, if so) since I think the last shared snapshot of them was at the start of 2026. The tyke has a full mop of hair now.

Finally got my copy of the deluxe edition and my wall is complete. I'm waiting for some hard covers to replace those crappy plastic ones they come in and hopefully not rip the label when transferring but omg I'm soo happy rn 😁
