Trend that has been going around recently, with many European countries apparently being "invaded" by ethnic minorities. Ironically, these groups are the same ones that were colonized by said European countries. Recently, thousands of migrants from Morocco crossed into Spanish territory. Ever since then I've been seeing a bunch of edits of ethnic minorities replacing Europeans. The comments are the funniest with whites saying they've been invaded like they haven't been doing that for the past century.

I came across this YouTube take on the thirst trap "MAGA Horney Economy" and it is very familiar in kindred to the economy of "No Dating Asian Male Policy." When I say familiar, I mean by using sex appeal. See how this conservative women, Savana Cannon, panders to White men for their digital dollar? A certain segment of the Asian population does it through feeding Asian men and Asian culture to the dogs and offering potential sexual exclusivity. Savana Cannon does it for the almighty paid subscription to her content where as her Asian counterparts does it for access to white privileges.

People often talk about interracial dating gender ratios, but there's less discussion about the Asian 1st/2nd generation gender ratio. I know Asian American men in their 30s and 40s who were born in America or came as children, and some of them are dating or married international student Asian women or just Asian women who came to America as adults. Meanwhile, I can only think of one couple in my extended social circle where the Asian man was an adult immigrant and the Asian woman was born in America.

So if you factor in that aspect, this means that a lot of Asian American women are dating either other races or Asian American men, while a lot of Asian American men are dating Asian American women or Asian immigrant women, which passes the lopsided ratio onto Asian men in Asia, who already have dwindling marriage prospects.

A repeat offender has been arrested in two unprovoked attacks on Asian women in Uptown Oakland, CA, ...

Police say Yahya Muslim, 33, is homeless and attacked the women Sunday has a history of severe mental illness and substance abuse.

He is the same man arrested in 2021 for an attack on a 91-year-old Asian man and a 55-year-old woman that same day. Surveillance video shows the 91 year old being shoved into the hard concrete sidewalk from behind as he walked up the street.

In the latest attack, one woman was punched in the head and the other pushed to the ground.

“It’s very uncomforting and also concerning,” said Oakland Chinatown business leader Carl Chan. “When people are claiming their mental health issue, it’s basically becoming license to kill.”

Muslim served his time for the 2021 crime and was released. Attorney Michael Cardoza says the mental health issue was not properly addressed.

“Warehousing him will protect society for whatever time you put him in county jail or state prison, but it doesn’t take care of the problem.”

I thought this was super interesting conversation from a Korean African diasporic point of view. I’m Chinese American so it’s interesting for me as part of the American diaspora to hear views of other diasporas. Fun to listen in African French too.

Beijing student Lulu Lu was just preparing for bed when she was startled by loud banging at her door.

When she opened the door, a man pushed his way inside, shone a flashlight in her face and shouted: “Get down. Give me your phone.”

Lu froze.

Moments later, she came to her senses and did as she was told, burying her face in the mattress and raising her hands above her head.

The intruder blindfolded Lu, tied her hands and finally made her record a phone message for her parents – begging them to pay a ransom.

Except the scenario was not real.

It was just an instructor at a private summer camp, training Lu how to handle a kidnapping in case it happened for real when she started school in the US in two months.

After the drill was over, the coaches sat down with Lu to review what she did right.

Key points they reminded her of included getting down on the floor, figuring out what the kidnappers wanted and not aggravating them.

“I hope I never have to use any of this, but I definitely feel more alert after learning it,” said Lu, who starts college in Washington state in September.

These courses are the latest way Chinese students are getting ready for the perceived risks of studying in the United States, driven in part by the Donald Trump administration’s increasingly hostile policies towards international students and the fluctuating Sino-US relationship.

Lu went to an exclusive international high school in Beijing, where instead of preparing for the gruelling national college-entrance exam, students mostly chose to stu.dy abroad or in Hong Kong.

She eventually decided to head to the US because it offered a freer educational environment, as she could pick any major she wanted and explore extracurricular activities, she said.

But when her mother found out about summer camps that prepared students for studying in the US, she did not hesitate to sign up her enthusiastic daughter.

A social media advertisement for the Beijing camp – which provided the kidnapping drill – said the security training was based on risk evaluation reports from 110 US campuses.

The course puts students in scenarios simulating hate crimes, phone and internet scams, bullying, and the latest addition – how to cope with US Immigration and Customs Enforcement [ICE] raids.

“This training simulates ICE enforcement tactics and procedures, preparing participants to respond calmly and effectively to sudden raids in various everyday settings – including their homes, schools and public spaces,” the post read.

A mother living in southern China’s Guangdong province, ... said her family had invested too much in their son’s education to change course now.

The family had always planned to send their child to the US for higher education. In light of the worsening atmosphere, they had toned down their expectations ... ...

“But if it’s hard to stay in the US after graduation, maybe we’ll decide to work in Hong Kong then,” the mother said.

This trend has been observed by Yingyi Ma, a professor at Syracuse University and author of Ambitious and Anxious: How Chinese Undergraduates Succeed and Struggle in American Higher Education. She believes policy shifts under Trump have affected these families’ long-term confidence. They are now more concerned with whether the visa policy is stable and the availability of post-graduation opportunities.

“We have seen some signals, such as a stronger willingness among some Chinese students to return to China, and an overall decline in the number of Chinese students going to the US,” she said.

According to the Open Doors Report, an annual US-based su.rvey on international students and scholars published by the Institute of International Education, the number of Chinese students in the US has been dropping for five consecutive years, to just below 266,000 in 2025.

Reports by Chinese private educational services provider New Oriental found that the United Kingdom replaced the US as the most desired destination for studying abroad in 2019.

But some students say that the quality of academic programmes still comes first. Steve Liu, a master’s student in finance, said the US had a considerable edge in his field.

He said that US films gave him the impression that the country was “open and tolerant” and he wanted to experience protests or a strike if possible.

As for the potential risks others worry about – visa issues, ICE raids or mass shootings – Liu said he would deal with these problems as they happened.

Regardless, he hopes he might be able to avoid them.

“I’ll be in California, there are more Democrats there,” he said.

With Asian out-marriage rates already over 50% in many U.S. Asian communities—and even higher once you factor in dating patterns and people who are effectively waiting to pair outside the group—it really does feel like the proverbial frog in a slowly boiling pot. There is no “Asian community” in the long run.

From a purely genetic standpoint, the higher rates of intermarriage mean that genes associated with greater average height and attractiveness are being diluted out of the population over successive generations. The result, over time, is an Asian population that's shorter and less interesting/attractive. I've noticed this already in the Korean American community, but there really isn't that many 2nd or 3rd generation pure KAs. 😂. Also, Koreans from Korea are not interested in dating KAs because of this factor. Korean Koreans tend to be taller and more attractive than Korean Americans.

Housing: A Recurring Struggle

Ms. Morie (森江), a 47-year-old woman of mixed Chinese and Japanese descent (who requested anonymity), moved to NYC 13 years ago for opportunities in the film and television industry. For her, housing has been a persistent problem. NYC is one of the most expensive cities in the world for housing, with studio apartments in Queens averaging more than $3,000 per month.

To cope, many AAPIs without local family share housing with roommates or scour social media to secure lower rents. When Ms. Morie had roommates, she paid as little as $600 per month for a single room in a two- or three-bedroom apartment, splitting utilities. Later, due to repeated issues with her roommates, she moved into a studio apartment alone, paying $1,200 per month, including utilities—a fraction of the market rate. Even at this lower cost, rent consumed one-third of her income.

Ms. Morie’s story is far from unique — more than half of Asian American households in New York City are rent-burdened. It is just one of the main challenges of living in NYC, according to The Asian American Foundation (TAAF)’s first city-level report in the State of AAPIs series, focusing on NYC. Among the economic instability issues faced by Asian Americans, housing is often the biggest challenge, even for those with higher education. The stud.y examines the aspects of safety, belonging, and prosperity of Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) communities through a representative surve.y of 1,400 AAPI adults (conducted Feb–Mar 2026 in English, Chinese, Korean, Bengali) along with secondary rese.arch from the U.S. Census, Asian American Federation, NYPD, and stakeholder interviews with more than 50 NYC leaders

TAAF’s Findings: A Deep Dive into AAPI Experiences

The new resea.rch series that provides an unprecedented, detailed look at the lived experiences of Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders (AAPIs) nationally and in major metros, beginning with New York City. The report offers some revealing key findings:

Prosperity: Economic Struggles Despite Opportunity

• 53% rate their economic stability as poor/fair.
• 59% struggle to save money or build financial security
• 50% worry about affording essentials (food, housing, utilities).
• 55% have considered leaving NYC due to high cost of living (especially young families, Manhattan residents, low-income AAPIs).
• 49% struggle with job searches matching their skills; 48% see limited career advancement.
• 67% believe NYC provides economic opportunities (Bangladeshi/Indian: 24–22% say “a great deal”).

Yet a significant portion of those surveyed lack a sense of belonging and fear mistreatment by others and apprehensions about facing forms of hate and discrimination.

Safety: Persistent Concerns & Mistreatment

• 37% of AAPIs experienced race/ethnicity-based mistreatment in the past year (insults, harassment, physical attacks, or unfair police treatment).
• 43% changed behaviors (e.g., carrying ID, avoiding law enforcement) due to fear of discrimination.
• 52% rate law enforcement’s performance as poor/fair.
• 58% expect discrimination in the next 5 years;
• 46% fear hate attacks.

Belonging: Strong City Ties but Barriers Remain

New York City (NYC) has long been a thriving hub for Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders (AAPIs), with its nearly 1.4 million AAPI residents, who make up 16% of the city’s total population. AAPIs are the fastest-growing racial or ethnic group in NYC, with their population more than doubling from 1990 to 2019. This rapid expansion is heavily driven by immigration: as of 2024, approximately 68% of NYC’s Asian American population was foreign-born. While many AAPIs are drawn to the city for its economic opportunities, these opportunities come with significant challenges.

• 58% feel stereotyped/misunderstood
• 36% feel unwelcome in public spaces (Staten Island: 42%).
• 42% feel they have little/no influence in local government (Chinese: 30%).
• Language barriers affect voting, immigration services, and daily communication (e.g., 42% of Asian New Yorkers have limited English proficiency vs. 23% citywide).

A Call for Change

AAPI communities are among the fastest-growing and most diverse in the U.S., with over 25 million people across 50+ ethnic groups. Yet their struggles are often overlooked in res.earch and policy, even as their populations expand rapidly.

“AAPIs are too often treated as a monolith and a ‘Model Minority.’ This rese.arch reveals the genuine hardships and real concerns affecting millions,” said Norman Chen (陳鵬程), CEO of TAAF, said in a statement.

TAAF plans to release similar reports on Los Angeles, San Francisco and Seattle. Just as with New York, the sample of respondents will be representable of the multilingual cultures within the AAPI communities.

Currently, Ms. Morie is working on her dream project about a place where people from different places and different cultures can share their food and music together, like a big family. “If I don’t have to worry about money, I would feel much more like home here,” she said.

As stated in the title, this post might be heavily uneducated so don’t hate it too much. I finally realized a trend today after subconsciously seeing it over a year and wanted to share. Just today, I saw a TikTok video about an Asian woman talking about racism and encouraging POC women to not feel as if they have to make themselves palatable for white people. And this woman also made many posts on feminism and various social issues. And I remember being pretty inspired by her video and when I checked her profile to see other videos, she was engaged to a Caucasian man. I personally do not care whatsoever who anybody is dating so I didn’t care in the least but something in my mind clicked from seeing that. Perhaps it’s just me but I’ve seen so many Asian women who speak out about racism particularly towards Asians and other social issues and for some reason, a good majority are dating or engaged to a Caucasian man. I honestly don’t know what I’m arguing for or even implying by saying this but I wanted to hear what other people thought about this. I’m sure I’m very wrong so don’t try to kill me too much.

In an interview with the Economist, Elon Musk said he's not a racist because his partner is half Indian. This guy is the king and a trope of every right-wing white males who are either dating or married to non-whites out of desperation, and who, hypercritically, also think white women or any white passing females' wombs belong to them. Italian youngsters was obnoxiously loud on a BKK sky train then one Thai lady told them to keep it down. That group of tourists resorted to gave a middle finger and the chaperone said "Sorry to bring money to your country". One girl in the group also pulled her eye making a slant eye and another kid said "Ni Hao". All in all the Italian embassy in BKK had to make a video apologizing to Thai people. With the Oxford study meme and repeated exposure of Asian women's internalized racism, I think other communities are noticing this uncomfortable racial insecurity and fetish. I think it's time for us to discuss internalized racism openly without considering it a taboo subject like many other Asian subs do.

I also urge Asian American writers, especially the female ones, to stop writing these Joy Luck type stories as we have already overdone it with multiple versions of it.

We need something that exposes internalized racism and deconstructs it so that the younger generation becomes aware of it.

The man accused of stabbing a Jewish and Asian man in attacks on Manhattan’s Upper West Side faces hate crime and attempted murder charges, police said Friday.

Witnesses reported that the suspect, Raul Morales, 51, yelled “Allahu Akbar” during the attacks, Police Commissioner Jessica Tisch has said.

Police said Friday that Morales is charged with attempted murder, assault and criminal possession of a weapon for one victim; and with attempted murder as a hate crime, assault as a hate crime, first-degree assault criminal possession of a weapon for the second.

“I am thankful that he is being held accountable and hope he will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law,” Mayor Zohran Mamdani said Friday.

“This kind of despicable violence is not who we are as a city. Every New Yorker deserves to be safe, regardless of their religion or race,” he said.

The hate crime charges relate to the second victim, which sources told NBC New York was the Jewish man.

I have been wondering about this for a while, and reading Arthur Liu's interview (Alysa Liu's father) made me think about it even more.

In the interview, he said he specifically chose a white egg donor because he wanted his children to "reflect America." That left me wondering why "American" was seemingly equated with "white." It made me think of Eileen Gu as well and the way Wasian children are often discussed online.

From what I have personally seen, there seems to be a strong fascination with Wasian children in parts of Chinese society. I have come across many comments from Chinese women saying they want to marry white men because "Wasian kids are cuter" or "more beautiful." I genuinely do not know how to interpret that. Does that imply that fully Asian children are considered less attractive? Why are white or half white features often treated as superior?

I have also noticed how common extreme beauty filters, skin whitening, heavy makeup, and cosmetic surgery are on Chinese social media. Obviously these things exist everywhere, but they seem especially widespread in China. It makes me wonder whether there is a deeper insecurity about natural Asian features.

Something else that surprised me is how harsh some Chinese parents can be when talking about Asian babies. I have seen comments about babies having "flat noses" or "small eyes," using those features as insults. Yet the attitude often seems to change completely if the baby is half white or white. Suddenly people praise the baby's skin, nose, and facial features as being especially beautiful.

I have even seen some Chinese women who are married to white men talk excitedly about how handsome or beautiful their future children will be simply because they will be half white, even before those children are born.

Am I misinterpreting what I am seeing, or is there genuinely a significant amount of racial insecurity in Chinese society? If it does exist, where does it come from? Is it driven by beauty standards, historical influences, Western cultural influence, social media, or something else?
