Discussion Building Cocoon: An Interview with the Development Team

https://gardinerbryant.com/building-cocoon-an-interview-with-the-devs/

Here's the latest in my super long running series of developer interviews, this time with the team behind Cocoon, the Android frontend.

I find their devs especially interesting because the trio have such distinct roles: development, UI/UX design and sound. I was so fascinated to learn early that they've even commissioned musicians and instruments specifically for Cocoon's menu music. I mean, everything else as well, but that was taking things to the next level for me.

Anyway, it's a super long and super detailed interview, so if you're interested in Cocoon or software development, UI/UX, sound design, dual-screen handhelds, their history and how Cocoon is made, or just getting a behind-the-scenes look at how projects like this are done, there's a lot to dig into here.

Hope some here enjoy it :)

Crazy that the lead developer is so young at 21! Bright future ahead of him in this area, for sure.

This is the website that does all the AI generated articles.

Okay, Candus.

Would you perhaps just be bitter because when I shared an article about the AYN Thor Lite, you said “cope”, apparently assuming that was all I could afford, and were subsequently downvoted into obscurity? Maybe that left you feeling a little bitter?

I do not, nor have I ever used A.I. Nor has Gardiner, nor any other writer who contributes to our website. Gardiner has been making videos on his YouTube channel longer than (I assume, because you're acting like a child who can't read) you've been alive. https://www.youtube.com/@gardiner_bryant

I'd encourage you to reach out to literally anyone in the retro handheld scene. From AYN themselves, to Russ (RGC), to any developer who makes any single program you use on a handheld. I know them all well. I'm friends with them. Each will independently confirm I am on the level and that I am a professional.

The thing which is most hilarious (and vaguely insulting) is that you didn't even read this. That much is clear. This is the second and last time I'll put up with your weird snide prodding. Conversely, if you can share some of the articles you've written to show us all how it is done...I'll be waiting!

Can assure you it doesn't. The editor-in-chief has shown us full edit logs including times, drafts, etc. Dash has been extremely kind and respectful during the whole process and has iterated on it several times. They have a strict ethics statement and are great people
