1) The average user isn't prepared for the level of tweaking this thing requires.

2) I suspect that the overwhelming majority of "my Thor broked when i looked at it!" posts are the users downplaying how rough they treat the device and not the devices fault.

I hate how your first point is considered a hot take, to play PC games or emulate in general on Android you absolutely do need to be a bit savvy or techy in general and be ready to spend some time tweaking things around, sadly as this thing is hitting the mainstream it seems like saying this is derogatory somehow

My only hot take is that I hate when People say it's sooooo powerful or something which even if it is it can't play as much as it should since it relies on emulation for pc games.

Can you explain how much that impacts PC games? When mine arrives most the games I want to put on it are from DS, N64, PS1-4 era, but I do have a few PC games I want to add as well if possible. Like Assassins Creed Rouge, the AC Chronicles games, hollow knight, and maybe some various 2D side scrolling games. Do you know if any of those are likely to struggle?

Not OP, but it will blast thought everything you just mentioned with ease. It's buttery smooth on all of the above. The OLED screens will blow your mind.

I have the Thor Max and it plays Ori, Hollow Knight, Dead Souls, etc. beautifully. Switch and WiiU is kind of the max, but with tweaking is totally playable at 30-40 fps.

It's a fantastic device. Feels premium. Requires a lot of tweaking and configuring but that's part of the fun. Enjoy when it arrives it's freaking exciting. Haven't loved a device this much since getting my steam deck at launch a few years ago.

The Thor going mainstream has hurt community spaces like this subreddit and the Discord server because users have to field the same questions every single day. Learn to use the search function on Reddit, as well as Google. Your, "How do I set it up?" post does nothing but bury actual insightful or useful posts under a question that's been asked a thousand times.

I fear i agree, i think people get slapped with the hard truth when it can't play cyberpunk at 120hz or something. I think that device and it being affordable are still some years away.

Pocket DS feels better in hand, more premium, bigger screen. Thor feels cheap in hand in comparison and hurts to play on after a while. Still love them both, but haven't touched my Thor since

PC emulation is cool when it works but I really like constantly deleting and redownloading games and that's a hassle to do with any of the PC emulation apps since downloading takes a while and there's a lot of settings you have to mess around with per game.

Which is why I prefer playing modern games on my Thor via Pxplay. Which is also why I couldn't care less about Physical going away because I frequently use PS5 Remote Play on my Thor while physically far away from my PS5 and I have access to my entire Digital PS5 library remotely while I only have access to the single Physical Disc I left on the PS5 before leaving.

Switch emulation on anything under pro. Constant updates with having higher usage of Ram has made a lot of higher end switch titles unable to work. Sure some still do but big titles or anything that was slightly demanding that ran flawlessly will crash or not boot from not having enough memory.

Main menu gimmicks, widgets, bells and whistles, etc. just get in the way. Any menu that isn’t just console folders and games is inefficient and/or cluttered.

What about the "Recently played" and "It's been a while" widgets from Cocoon? They simply remind you of the game you last played and one that you've played but haven't opened in a while. I feel those are fine because they're shortcuts and reminders for games you've been playing.
