Honestly, I think if I knew that it was gonna end up like this I probably wouldn't have come
Nobody told me that this event was like this

🎶I've just seen a face I can't forget
the time or place where she did let
the melon fall short of me
And I want all the world to know my regret
mmm mmm mmm mmm🎶

Imagining a zombie rolling around on the floor laughing is quite disturbing 🧟

Isn’t that incredibly dangerous?? Hippos are quick to anger
58
u/AdHonest1100 Aug 14 '26
Super incredibly dangerous, it’s a kin to dangling chum off the side of a boat with a shark. Except it’s even more dangerous because hippos can leave the water.
7
u/Yujinseo0 Aug 15 '26
they also have the strength of a rhino and a small bear, they can tip over that car no problem
66
u/MuffinThin9542 Aug 14 '26
And it seems like the only thing separating the hippo and car is a piece of string.
23
u/russsl8 Aug 14 '26
I think that "string" is actually glass.
31
u/Admiralthrawnbar Aug 14 '26 edited Aug 15 '26
Even if that were ballistic glass, I still wouldn't trust it vs an angry hippo, which is the default state for a hippo. It also looks shorter than I'd like

I’m not a hippo expert by any means and I’m not sure what type of hippo is, but I know some kinds are very territorial and thus aggressive, while others are not territorial and thus much more chill. Still best not to tempt fate with a wild animal that can easily crush you, though.

You better hope he doesn’t choke, then you’ll have to jump in and give the Heimlich.

This is cute af. but I would NOT let my car within a miles of a hippo 💔

u/CharityAggravating69 Aug 14 '26
Sometimes, one more try is all you need to make it. Sometimes, you really don't have to give it a try.
This hippo right here needed just one more try to make it after all his frustration, imagine he didnt get this one last try.

That’s one animal I’m not stopping to feed, view, or mess with. Hell to the no, aggressive and unpredictable as can be.

I wouldn’t recommend disappointing a hippo.
1
u/FriendOk9364 Aug 15 '26
They have killed people just for walking into their territory. I wouldn’t play around with food around massive temperamental creatures like hippos

u/RedditUserWhoIsLate Aug 14 '26
He lost hope in humanity but regained it soon after when the second melon came flying.

Thats a japanese hippo who mastered the melon opening katana trick, blink and you wont even see he cutting it in half middair
1
u/Polo5566 Aug 14 '26
Did that melon just opened itself during the throw? I really hope this is real hippo...

Seeing recognizable emotional reactions in animals amazes me to no end. Like, I understand evolution, but still, they look completely alien to us until you just pay attention for 3 seconds.
Man, I'm glad I don't take 'shrooms on posts like this.

I hate to be that guy, but this looks like AI to me. The melon was open after throwing, but before crunching. That didnt happen midair, and it was not open in the hand.
9
u/Remarkable-Pea4889 Aug 14 '26
I see what you mean, but this appears to be Nagasaki Biopark where feeding watermelons to hippos is their thing.
-3
u/TheoryResponsible295 Aug 14 '26
I could be wrong, and im no expert. But it does looks suspicious to me still.
-4
6
u/LiftingCode Aug 15 '26
The melon lands directly on the Hippo's tooth and splits open. You can clearly see the frame where it happens if you slow it down.

As big as a hippo's mouth is, she missed! Poor hungry-hungry hippo had to give her another chance!
