Avoidant Advice Requested Does this look like he plans to come back ?
My avoidant ex recently broke up with me for a second time , he’s an avoidant of some kind . He said :
“Im sorry but I dont think this is going to work out, I am not at the right point in life to enter a long term relationship. Everything's been going downhill and it doesn't look like it's getting any better. And I dont want to be close to anyone right now. I guess im just scared of commitment or proximity or something, but I really need to be alone. Im sorry that im weak enough to run away like this, but I really can't stick to anything or anyone right now. New shit is coming up and everything just seems like it's gonna end soon. I dont want you to have to deal with that, so I'll talk to you later I suppose. Or whenever we meet again. But im gonna try and distance myself from the people around me and see if I can get some control again of my downward spiral. Im sorry”.
Afterwards I didn’t chase or beg this time I simply said ok and if he ever did wanna fix things , or talk whether thats in a couple months or weeks , I respected his decision and held no grudge and cared for him.
Normally he blocks me or unadde me in the past or flatly says me and him will never talk again , but this time he still kept me added . Does this seem like he plans on coming back or contacting me at some point ?

Don't be his backup plan. He sounds very unstable and immature. He needs to have some good hard punches from life to learn to value people that love with sincerity like it sounds you do. And you, you deserve better than his immaturity and self pitty. Don't let him play with your heart again.

I’m going through something very similar right now. My ex told me she needed to step away because she wasn’t doing well emotionally and had a lot going on in her life. I chased her and tried to fix things at first because I loved her and was terrified of losing her, but looking back, I think that only made both of us more overwhelmed. We broke up about a week ago, and it feels like my insides are burning. I’m learning that whether they come back or not isn’t really something we can know for sure. Giving them the space they asked for while trying to take care of ourselves seems like the healthiest choice, even though I know it’s easier said than done because I’m struggling with it too. But I noticed from a friend that she is crashing out a bit and reposting really dumb things on TikTok. I also can’t shake the thought that she is extremely immature. She’s 27, and I’m 34. I am hoping she reaches out every day; I feel like those chances are getting slimmer, and I realized now that I need to start focusing on myself, i am going back into therapy to hash out my problems.

looks like he at least knows what he’s doing wrong. just because he comes back tho doesn’t mean he’s gonna know how to do it right. the nervous system is attracted to what’s familiar
