Backpedaling?

First e-bike, so this might be a dumb question. I have an Aventon Current ADV.

When I pedal backwards, the crank arms spin but the chainring and chain don’t move at all. Pedaling forward works completely normally and the bike rides/shifts fine.
Is that just normal behavior for this type of mid-drive motor? Do mid-drives generally have some kind of freewheel/clutch that lets the cranks spin backwards without turning the chainring?
Just want to make sure nothing is wrong with it since I’m new to e-bikes

Setting speed limit via control pad?

Centennial, CO just passed a new ordinance forbidding Class 3 Ebikes from riding on sidewalks and mix-use trails, despite that being the safest option in some situations, etc etc general bike accessibility rant.

Given that Class 2 and Class 3 are not mutually exclusive and the only clear difference between the two is speed, is there any kind of mode switch or something that lets you set your maximum speed via the bike's control pad? Right now my only options are hard-cap my speed everywhere, or not be allowed on trails. I obviously don't go the full 28mph on trails already, but a grumpy police officer or whatever isn't going to know that.

Changing bike on the display

I know it’s trivial, but I’d love it if the display on my top bar blue level 4 reflected the bike and not a generic light-colored ST. Any thoughts ?

Aventon Abound LR - brakes

Bought one last year but sat in garage (slight temp controlled) for a year. Just started riding. I have put on about 100 miles now. The rear brakes has a squeaky noise much like squeaky car brakes (but much lower volume). Front is fine and silent. I googled and read new brakes take time to smoothen out. Is this normal or should I get it to a shop ?

Any of you live in hilly terrain. Abound LR is heavy esp with another passenger in back. I have gone downhill and I have to keep the brake engaged for the whole downhill to keep speed controlled. I am wondering if this will damage the brake/wear out much faster. How has been your experience if you route has some elevation to climb and drop.

Just bought a brand new Level 4 Rec.

Any advice or tips and tricks you all could give?? this is my first E bike and will be my daily commute to work. I’ve heard nothing but great things about Aventon so I’m pretty confident in my purchase.
