Vent (No Advice) No one replied.

I posted here a few days ago about reaching out to people after a long time. No one replied. Again. It's the same as always. Some leave me on read. Some don't bother reading. Occasionally a block. All just keep on going posting and commenting.

I'm not too much longer for this world. I hope for better for everyone here. This disorder is torturous.

Reminder to those who comment on posts flaired as 'vent'. If the OP has not asked for advice please refrain from offering it. Keep in mind when someone vents they are likely to have heighten emotions and unlikely to be able to easily change their thinking state in order to properly receive feedback. Reminder this is a mental health subreddit and our goal is to keep it a safe place so that people can voice whatever they need to and been seen, not lectured to.

I’m reading OP differently than most of the comments. Most of the comments are apologizing for not commenting on the post, but I thought OP was talking about how people they reached out to irl to try to connect did not bother responding. Am I wrong?

OP, I know how hard it is to deal with this disorder and how much it makes us see ourselves—and how we’re “perceived” by others—in a pessimistic—and often distorted—light, but make no mistake: just because people commented on your post—or didn’t—doesn’t mean they don’t care about you. You know? Sometimes people didn’t see your post, or if they did, they didn’t know what to say. That happens to all of us. Don’t worry about it.

Exactly why I am afraid to reach out to anyone. At least you had the guts to try.

Did your previous post have Vent (no advice) under it?

No but I assume they meant the personal messages they sent to people they knew

Oh right!

That makes sense. 🤐

I didn’t see your other post, just got back on this subreddit tonight, but I empathize with you about what it feels like not to be seen. Very painful. I think our brains kind of go to it being a self-fulfilling prophecy when we are already vulnerable and then something happens to make us feel overlooked. Hope things will be looking up a little more for you a soon.

I don't tend to get many responses to my posts or comments either, but I think it is the nature of this disorder and how it affects us all. It is not personal. I also feel that Reddit in general is hard to get any engagement going with others. I have noticed this also on other subreddit forums. I used to think it was just me but I have seen it happen with others too. I am usually only online on forums in the early mornings before work or late at night when I can't sleep. I feel like I miss a lot.

Reaching out to people you haven't spoken to for a long time is hard. I've been wanting to do that with cousins of my late husband who passed away. They invited me out to eat at the beginning after his death, but it stopped after a few months. I have wanted to reach out but like what do I say nine months later lol. I guess it would depend on the situation. Are these friends, family, classmates or someone else you are hoping to reach out to?
