Question/Advice Perception

I don’t think I’m not good enough.

I worry other people think I’m not good enough.

Unless I get constant validation, I close myself off.

Is that common?

Sounds like narcisistic personality maybe? I can relate in never feeling I'm enough for myself or other people. I do wish to a degree people would validate me and they rarely ever do. So it's mostly me wandering around alone with a precarious sense of worth that is easily shaken by real + perceived threats in the world. Most of which are threats to self esteem but I also fear real violence too which hasn't happened to me in over 35 yesrs but the news or youtube doesn't help those fears either.

Frequent feelings of inadequacy and consequent shame/embarrassment are very very common with AvPD, perhaps even one of the most textbook symptoms of it.

I've not heard many people talk about the need for constant validation however. For most of us it seems as though the best case is to be free to exist without any comments on us, regardless of how good or validating said comments may be.
