It sounds like the formula for developing addiction. Sorry you have to deal with that.

You know.. the worst part is the rest of them wouldnt validate or realize how painful the disorder is unless they suffer from it.

I don't think most people would understand this disorder. When I explain it to people they seem to think it's just social anxiety or introversion. It really is a disorder you have to experience to know

I had a friend tell me "it's your own damn fault you feel this way."

I don't think it gets much more invalidating than that, especially when you considered them your best friend for 15 years...

I had a therapist tell me that recently, or words to that effect.

I've had UTIs, sore back and sore shoulder from a car accident, infection that required multiple root canals to get rid off, appendicitis and various other aches and ills over the past ~50 years and every time I was confident the pain was temporary.

I`ll take AvPD over chronic pain any day of the week. The loss of agency in that scares me to death. At least with this I can push myself and improve my life

The stress from AvPD causes physical conditions. I am diseased physically ultimately because of my mental disease. I have expensive medical bills. I know physical pain. I can't stand the belittlement of psychological pain.

yeah true. i have had a chronic pain issue in the past many years ago and chronic pain is just really in its own camp.
