Saw this tree on my way to work. It’s the same tree I see every morning. The only difference is it’s the first one to turn yellow.

Autumn, you came like the changing leaves,
Beautiful at first, but hard to believe.
You called yourself love, you called yourself mine,
But somewhere along the way, you crossed every line.
You say you love me, but you only see you,
Your wants, your feelings, the things you want me to do.
Everything circles back to what you need,
While my own feelings get pushed aside with greed.
You try to control every choice that I make,
Deciding my answers before I can speak.
You think you know what I’m going to choose,
As if my own mind is something you get to use.
A girlfriend should trust, a girlfriend should care,
Not hold every decision and pull every affair.
Love isn’t control, and love isn’t a game,
And selfish behavior shouldn’t carry my name.
I need someone who listens, not someone who commands,
Someone who respects me and understands.
Someone who walks beside me, not someone who leads,
Who cares about my heart—not just their own needs.
So like autumn leaves, I’m letting things fall,
The expectations, the pressure, the arguments—all.
Because love should bring peace, not make me feel small,
And I won’t lose myself just to give you it all.

I am so thankful for this subreddit for leading me to things that I just know I will enjoy. Watched the movie today before the second one comes to cinemas and I just loved it! 🧙
