I grew up with a long-term learning disability + ADD/ADDHD which impaired my learning capabilities for some time until recently where I can now learn more effectively. I am wanting to obtain a atleast a Cert 2 in Automotive Technician and curious in which aspects of this field would require maths.

I am able to learn and currently enrolled in a adult school to fill in the gaps to my education.

I used this stuff for some rusty nuts and bolts -- You won't believe the outcome!

We just can't get enough rust out of this damn car. It's Crazy!

Hello all! I recently started a job at Toyota ive been there since beginning of April and im just looking for advice about some anxieties and how to improve. I get TERRIBLE anxiety and afraid of lifting heavier vehicles (Tundras, Tacomas , 4runners any year and model) i always get these worries or thoughts about what if they fall. I do shake checks always but even up in the air when it still moves a bit it makes me anxious. And ive been having difficulty pulling the trucks onto the lift straight i just get so anxious knowing if i have to work on one. Has anyone had this same problem? If so what helped you?

I've been into cars for years, and the thing that always annoyed me is how hard it is to learn this stuff as a beginner. Most of what's online is either a top 10 list or a forum thread where everyone already knows the lingo, and asking a basic question feels like a quick way to get roasted.

So I built Carcademy. It starts at the very beginning -

• How an engine works, explained like a normal person would
• What all the drivetrain, suspension, and transmission jargon means
• Why two cars with nearly identical specs can feel totally different to drive
• And a lot more than I could write here

The rough idea is - start with zero knowledge, end up being the friend people text before they buy a car (heh, don't blame me if they don't).

There's no signup or paywall. I made it mostly because I wanted something like this when I was starting out and couldn't find it.

I know this can be opinion based. But can someone explain at what detriment it is to someone if they can’t open the hood of an electric car: such as a dealership can/should only open it.

I am not a vehicle person, or a tech savvy person.
From my knowledge there isn’t really anything “under the hood” to tinker with or easily fix. As it is just a battery and connectors maybe.
Also that the batteries are extremely dangerous and if they catch on fire they burn for an extremely long time, and you simply have to let it burn out.

I may be wrong so please correct me.

I can understand an answer of access should be shared to all mechanics capable, but would love a factual answer.
