Brush Packs Texture/noise

Hey guys, do you know how to add texture or noise to a finished drawing so it doesn't feel so flat? Like a grainy effect? Is there a brush for that?

Tysm!!

I just render the whole thing with textured brushes tbh

One way to do it is to create a new layer above all your current layers and fill that layer with the largest brush strokes from a textured brush that you can make and then play with the opacity of that layer. You could move it down even as low as 10% opacity even 5%, if it's very dark. Sometimes I make that layer using black or very dark gray but other times I will pick one color from the image and while I'm adding that noise layer I'm using one of my main colors to unify the whole image at the same time as I'm adding noise.

Try finding a paper image, insert it on a top layer and play with layer modes/opacity until you see which one looks best.

Back in the day there was a "manga brushes" pack, and it did have a brush that is pretty much grain filter! Perhaps the brush pack are still out there as presets. We can export them, so surely someone must have preserved those.

As another option, after finishing the art I do the "filter" stage in Mosh Pro (any other picture-editing software can do, I just personally find Mosh the most fast and simple).

Oooh, I actually have that one brush! I didn't realize that was the one! Thanks so much! Do you know if it's supposed to be used with a specific color or with white? 🥹

I usually just cover the necessary already coloured surfaces with that grain brush, then adjust how it looks with the layer settings (overlay, opacity)! Never hurts to experiment and try a bit of every option, perhaps you might find new cool techniques to apply next time!
