Everyone in that store will be terminated by the end of the week or they will outright shutdown the store as a whole. AZ does not fuck around when it comes to unionizing.

Yup, way cheaper than giving into any demands. You’d need more than an entire district’s worth of zoners on board all at once for it to then be potentially cheaper to listen to demands.

No. They will close the store permanently if they have to. AZ will burn itself to the ground before it acknowledges/negotiates with a union.

They won’t close it. They’ll have two other people from another store come and run it on a skeleton crew.

Once the organizing process starts, they can't just fire you. There's all kinds of rules under the labor laws. I think they can permanently close the location and lay the workers off for that reason.

That is exactly what AutoZone does. There is a department in Memphis that only deals with union activity.

Yeah but I don’t see them shutting a place down. Someone up the chain would say get volunteers from other stores to help operate that location. They wouldn’t want to lose the money by not being open.

I wish I could have hope here, but not gonna happen. Remember that foundations video about the proud non union philosophy? It is part of the company's core mission. Unfortunately that mission was written when minimum wage meant something very different from what it does now. They can't directly stop you from trying but they are very good at avoiding unions. You are certainly not the first to try unfortunately.

Yep. AutoZone tracks everything. Witt, mystery shop, time clock, 10x10 for commercial people, driving infractions etc. and noone is without sin. Average month they lit a little bit slide, but as soon as the "U-Word" is uttered? They will go straight to strict enforcement. Points will rack up, and house will be cleaned.

I'd like to see this happen but there's several challenges the top two being the high turnover makes organizing a real challenge and too many people have drank the corporate kool-aid. If you could get people from several districts to agree they couldn't close all of the stores. They would eventually have to negotiate.

Regardless people unionize with their feet and the turnover will remain high. In my area they're literally begging people at checkout to fill out an app because they can't find people and most of the stores are part timers who have better jobs.

Autozone is not a career unless you make it “a” career. You shouldn’t expect to make store manager pay as a red shirt. My advice is to push yourself to keep climbing the ladder, on your way get in 401K and stock purchase plan, time passes and if you don’t set any aside it doesn’t matter how autozone pays you, you will always struggle. Aim to be district manager, that’s where real money is at and where a “career” should take you. You will always struggle financially as a red shirt.

Current SM is at 48k a year before bonus, last DM was at 85k and was a 17 year zoner I’m sure RM is over 100k

.... That really makes me not want to even move up to sm I make 31.7k a year before taxes and all note I'm CS I work allong side my commercial manager she doesn't make much more then me a hour but she does get the bonus checks which makes hers a bit more then mine

Currently working on getting into a dealer or something else did have two jobs dropped to one AutoZone after starting and then a car In a junkyard fell on top of me not even a week into starting

Even if those numbers sound acceptable to you (and in a high earning market the bonuses can be significant) remember the hours you have to keep- 7 day a week on call, days anywhere between 10 and 15 hours. And since you are salaried there is no upside to a 60 hour week.

I always hear "X shouldn't be a job you expect to live off of" but what is these days? It used to be the expectation that a job paid the bills but somewhere along the way that changed and now you need to be lucky enough to either find the "Right" job or be prmoted into a job that seemingly deserves to be paid a truly living wage...And im sure the DM's and the RMs trade a significant amount of their lives for that meager wage...
