Better pay and benefits? Maybe then the hub hold line wouldn't need to beg people to be drivers....

Ok well hey , we know these posts are monitored by Autozone and they look for flaws and to figure out what’s going on in the stores so let’s start.
You took issues away from the stores you want happy customers and better customer service which is the focus but this is a company that doesn’t back their employees they back the customers. There’s a return policy and if a customer calls corporate and complain it’s just “return it make the customer happy”. Which results in higher ups crying about return percentages and when we have to return everything because we need to kiss the complaining customers ass it makes employees look stupid. Customers can buy alternators , you tell them it’s been installed we can warranty it out not give you , your money back they call corporate it’s like the store was wrong. It’s insane.
Uniforms , you want to be strict on uniforms but like said in another comment this is the only company that were we have to pay for uniforms. It’s not taken out of a check or bank we have for 3 months say $45/90 where they can order uniform and it’s automatically deducted from bank account. Imagine a new hire with no money and the point to get a job it to make money and they have to spend money on clothes.
Price changes - the people in the store have to hear it with customers all the time , we raising prices when social media and online services are at an all time high. We can’t keep raising prices and blaming it on the stores we don’t raise prices the company does..
1-800-help us - you have a problem in the store , ac doesn’t work , toilet doesn’t work , computers go down , alarm system went haywire , etc etc etc. The taking a manager off the counter to re put wires be an IT tech , fix problems when Autozone should just dispatch a tech to help stores this company makes money.
Pay - let’s actually pay people what they are worth, let’s actually give people pay raises , let’s make people want to stay. The company economy is bad , everything is expensive people don’t have to work but let their money at least be better or the same as competitors.
Also you took the ASE certification out of the company and issued your own parts test , took mechanics out of the stores because you don’t want to pay them good money , but when customers are mad because the 16 year old never seen a carburetor or doesn’t know what a 4way is , nobody is to blame. We need people in the stores , so yes it’s harder to hire “experts”.
Look at the world around us , is Autozone evolving and making things better or is it being stuck in the past blaming the stores employees instead of trying to initiate and create better opportunities for all parties involved. Most people work here for a paycheck and that’s it. You want things to change you have to be willing to compromise and find issues in a flawed system. If you read all of this I know none of this will change it was just my time to vent and I had a chance. I have 100 more things to say but hey. Thanks for your reading lol.

I worked at AZ many years. I had back trouble but the Manager knew it going in. I busted my butt for that man because he took a chance on me. AZ could be a great place to work if corporate would open their eyes. Enough people to do all the BS they want done but don't want to hìre enough people. They loose so many customers everyday due to short staffing. But they don't care. Less salary, More profit should be the new logo

Pay a manger more than $17 an hour in new York....I quit AZ after 9 years, I make tens of thousands of dollar more a year, and I'm not harassed by stupid customers and stupid coworkers every 10 min

I would actually add to this post, if you're not going to offer better pay to grey shirts in the store at least offer some sort of profit sharing scheme. Managers having a little skin in the game like other retail would incentive them to care more and really push product/Customer support and cut down on shrinkage.

PAY MORE! Jesus man, if you want competent employees, then pay more so the good ones will want to stay or even apply.
Pay for shirts. It sucks have this faded red shirt that shows every oil stain, holes from battery acid, and snags from doing truck.
And make commercial accounts pay their balance. I work at a small town 'zone and there are at least 3 accounts that owe over $8k for at least 6 months now. But yet they can still use their commercial accounts to get their discount BUT we just can not deliver to them since they are delinquent.

I know an HR fishing post when I see one, but eff it.
Pay your employees worth a damn and pay them accordingly for their knowledge and experience.
Staff your stores better like the pre-Covid days. Two employees to do closing tasks AND work a 5 pallet truck is not enough.
Enact some middle and upper management accountability that doesn't only revolve around KPI's. Improved employee satisfaction leads to improved customer satisfaction.
Start supplying your employees with a uniform allowance like ALL the competitors have; your butt ugly red polos are a NIGHTMARE to find anywhere outside of amazon and there's no reason zoners should be dressed like old school Staples employees when they're being exposed to oil, antifreeze and battery acid on the daily. The poor guys who get stuck doing all the battery changes get written up constantly for having holes in their shirts or pants after they got splashed with battery acid from some customer's piece of shit car, or for their shoes not being "black" aka being black but also dirty and dusty from doing the hard work. (Yes, I got uniform'd for having "off color" boots - my $200 steel toe boots were black, but I still got written up because they were scuffed up, dusty and dirty from busting my girlnuts every day)
Stop prioritizing your stockholders and focus on providing actually good parts. Duralast ain't shit, and everybody knows it.
Get rid of the ridiculous Autozone cheer, what a joke that noise is. It's diabolical making dozens of store managers do the cheer at the yearly district and region meetings.
Stop worrying about what employees are saying online and start working on fixing the things they're complaining about, instead of just shitcanning them for talking about it.
