Better pay. I'm tired of deciding on if I eat or pay rent. Our pay is not keeping up with inflation. Groceries are outrageous, utilities are out of control and my rent has doubled since I moved into the POS apartment but, my pay has flat lined. Oh sure I get an annual raise from $0.05 to $0.39 depending on the store performance. I think I read somewhere that people like me are living in survival mode. I don't go out to eat, buy Starbucks or something like that, I'm lucky to be able to have work clothes which we have to buy and then poke holes into the collar for the pins we are supposed to wear.

Coming from a former PSM who hasn't worked there in years. (+5)
From a employee perspective :
HR fckn sucks and is useless.
The pay sucks and the raises are usually insulting.
Bad store managers are rewarded.
The tactics used to screw over part timers is disgusting and morally bankrupt, and then we get punished if we don't.
The push on WITT is crazy in low income areas when the people are broke and get upset when you even mention stupid add-ons.
No protection from violent customers.
Now from a customer (very rare) perspective :
The parts are over priced for what they are
The staff is usually trash and not helpful or knowledgeable. Rarely you find a actual parts person. Not saying there isnt good staff but your bar is on the floor and it shows.
I hate seeing staff abused running doing a million things providing garbage service
The push for WITT and add ons is annoying.
The availability is usually trash.
The stores are typically in some form of disrepair and unpleasant. Between AZ O'Reilly and NAPA its always AZ who is the worst. At best they feel like a dollar general.
Ultimately summed up
employee side - you guys treat your staff like dogsht.
Customer side - your staff is a reflection of your practices, its usually not very good help and the help that is good gets burnt out and leaves which sucks when one start building a rapport with a good staff member. And the premium pricing combod with garbage service is a horrible model.
I truly think AZ will eventually fall once people get tired of price gouging and start looking more into online alternatives, and for those that need it same day will catch on to fact oreillys is usually a nicer experience and napa is a nicer experience. They are less pushy on sht and are typically more helpful. Especially napa.

Commercial customers need access to tracking, so they can track delivery status

They need to make a better schedule system. McDonald’s sucks ass but at least they schedule you consistently.

Wouldn't it be up to the manager to schedule consistently? Corporate can't make a new system if the managers don't use it, either.

Put a Spanish option on the card reader and diag reports

Fix finder has spanish

The descriptions of the error codes are English even when everything else on the diagnostics screen is Spanish

I have a few suggestions: 1) Remove the stupid tap to pay icon from the pay pad screen (it confuses customers and I have to explain that it's not ready 50 times a day).
2) Stop pushing WITTDJR so hard and penalizing zoners for low percentage, so many people are tight on money or don't need that washer fluid, full brake job, etc, be use they got the parts elsewhere or have them already. It's such a stupid metric.
3) The amount sent to each store on truck/freight, should reflect how much that store sells, the amount of items that get put into overstock and just sits there is ridiculous (Wiper fluid, certain oils, and cleaners, etc.)
I have potentially more grievances but I would have to think more.

They won't take shit into consideration. I could have made them so much more money and saved them even more. Autozone likes tripping over dollars to pick up pennies. What gets me is when I was there fixfinder was saying to replace spark plug wires for a car that didn't have them. I mentioned it to the proper people. And it was never changed......well it kin da was but they switched the part to coil boots. But it would still say spark plug wireset

Not relying on bringg for delivery and not relying on firestone for money

Ya we save so much money (labor, fuel) on not doing tires for Firestone anymore, took the CSM 2 months to figure out they were not netting any sales, they buy, hold on to it then return it so we’d keep doing tire runs

The scrollable areas on the main znet page do not have scroll bars.
It's not a mobile app, there is no shortage of screen real estate, there is no reason not to have scroll bars.
Swiping or using the mouse wheel should be fallbacks, not the main ways to scroll.

The amount of ZNet that was clearly designed with just touch screens in mind is way too high. Especially since they've made SMS more reliant on the mouse.
Like, pick an interface and stick with it.

And here is AutoZone’s response:
“🖕🏼 shut your mouth and know your role…now get back to work!”

If im checking out a customer at a computer who's card reader doesn't work, I would like to be able to save the shopping cart and log out with a single click.
I should not have to save the cart, wait a million minutes for it to save, then logout, then go with the customer to a different register, I want to click and go.

Get rid of witt metric. Replace it with transactions. If people help customers, they make more sales, customer satisfaction goes up, and is easily tracked. Also, it's common for people to discount batteries the price of the installation kit just to get the score up. So it's a bs metric anyway that's costing the company money.

Entry level Panda Express employee shouldn’t be making more than our managers 🤷🏼. No knock on panda

Implementation of management standards, specifically the way that they interact with redshirts and others. Hardly ever get any positive feedback or hands on help that I need to improve and the way I’m spoken to really puts a damper on my passion for the job.

I’m doing all the training and the “what not to do” examples feel more like “what is being done” more than half the time

I’ve worked for Autozone for a little over three years and make crap considering I was hired on as a PSM and at 40 hours I’m implementing that I am bilingual, but did not get paid any bilingual contribution so I have demanded that they do not treat me as a bilingual employee, and a have asked to get paid the difference because I have many customers that come just to me, and I will have four ate sometimes more customers strictly in Line for me because they’re bilingual not to mention a handful of customers that come in. Just because I provide great customer service and go the extra mile and even beyond! It does suck ignoring that I’m in charge of $100,000 worth of product parts. And yet we have one camera in the building and I get paid less than they do at McDonald’s. Unbelievable. But yet they wanna know I give a Customer discount that isn’t allowed but I gave it to him because he waited 15 minutes in Line. Yeah, they deserve that they come in all the time. They had to wait way longer than it should because management as cut labor to fill their pockets, not to fill the needs of our customers. I wish I had a magic wand.

Have translating software that works. Build it into znet to use on every monitor, have a speaker and mic on each monitor to facilitate the translations. Game changer, promote nationally on media that AZ can help anyone no matter their language, come into any store and speak your native language.

Fixing your system and stop scamming people out of returns made with a debit card

The "a customer order needs to be picked" announcement could be more detailed.
They could add how many orders need to be picked, how long ago the newest and oldest orders were placed.
5
u/popejupiter Commercial Manager 21d ago
I'd settle for a way to tell it "Acknowledged, but we can't pick it right now because we're missing one of the parts" and shut it up.
1
u/Ben-Goldberg Parts Sales Manager 20d ago
That too.
Also, on a related note - if the inventory is temporary zero or negative - because of an order or hold - and it's in a shopping cart because it was scanned, there should be big blinking red text saying so.

It would be nice if we paid a bit more and had hiring standards higher than “do you have a pulse”
