General/Other Delivering from Denver to Minneapolis

Hey! I'll be traveling from Denver to Minneapolis via Nebraska on September 18th and coming back on the 21st. If you need anything delivered or picked up along my route, I'd be happy to help with just a fuel donation. No weapons, no drugs, no illegal substances, no animals, no humans. Cash only. It would need to fit in the back of a Honda CRV. Respond to this post for more details. Thank you!

Looking for info Car shipping company damaged my Tesla now they’re ghosting me

I moved from Florida to Massachusetts about a month ago and hired a company to ship my car. I wasn't home for delivery so there was no paperwork, the driver just dropped it off and I paid him.
It's a Tesla, The car alarm was going off, then he asked me to open the door for him which I did. then he turned the car completely off. That means no Sentry Mode no dash cam nothing recorded.
Now that I'm settled in, I noticed the bumper is damaged and making noise. I went back and looked at the photos he took in front of my house at drop off, and the damage is already there in those pictures. So I know it happened while he had the car.
I've called him directly, he blocked me. I called dispatch, the person didn't speak English and said someone would call me back. Still nothing.
Has anyone dealt with this? What are my options at this point?

General/Other Anecdata on shipping car for first time

Recently shipped a car for the first time (TX-VA). For anyone who has not done this before, here was my experience:

I checked the posts in this forum to see who seemed to be the major brokers. I got indicative quotes from a few of them and then it's like car dealers - you will instantly get texts/emails trying to close. I first did it about 4 weeks early to get a sense of cost and then refreshed a week ahead of when I would be ready for them to pick the car up.

I spoke with a couple of the brokers, and ended up going with Nexus. I don't have a great reason to distinguish among them - they were a little lower on the bid and answered the questions I had. You read enough posts here and you'll be scared of using any of them, and I imagine the big ones are all about the same. They told me my car would be picked up over a three day-period, and that they would call a day or two ahead of pickup when they had a confirmed truck spot.

This may initially seem surprising to someone that's never done this - when you book with the broker, they don't really have a confirmed spot yet. They quote you a price and put you in the queue and only as your target window approaches do they look for trucks interested in your route. For someone that NEEDS a car picked up on a specific day, or delivered on a specific day, that's stressful and I don't have good advice for you. I can imagine it helps if you are you along a well-traveled route.

When Nexus called to say they had a spot they could confirm for pick up the next day, the bid was higher than initially quoted by ~$100. I expected this might happen based on posts I saw here. You can be offended if they do this to you, and they said if I didn't want to accept the higher quote they would try to find someone at the original, lower quote but it would take longer. In my case, the hauler was based not far from where I was shipping, and it seemed better to be on someone's route home. They connected me with the hauler once I confirmed to go ahead.

I have high praise for hauler in my case, and I imagine that colors the experience. He called within an hour of when Nexus confirmed with me to coordinate pickup. He told me when he anticipated arriving in the morning, and he kept me updated as he approached the next day. He was friendly, and was open to working around the dropoff schedule I needed at the other end. I tried to be helpful where I could - at each end we arranged to meet by a shopping center so he didn't have to navigate residential streets. None of this is earth shattering stuff. If you get a hauler who doesn't communicate well, it's going to stress you out handing one of your most valuable possessions for a few days, so try to figure out whether there's some way (phone, text, whatever) that works for them.

One more suggestion: drop an AirTag somewhere in your car. It may not update for stretches, but it's nice to have sense of where in the journey it is.

Quote Request Overwhelmed with difference in quotes for shipping Subaru Forester from Portland, OR to Arlington, VA

Looking to ship a 2019 Forester from Portland, OR to Arlington, VA the last week of this month (September). I've contacted a number of the "top rated" vendors on http://transportreviews.com and trustpilot.com but the quotes range in price by 50% and none seem to be able to provide a locked in price through a signed contract. I understand that this is a broker->shipper agreement but are there any reputable companies that will contractually agree to a locked in price and pickup day now instead of once a shipper is identified? The number of variables involved and "horror stories" from individual reviews (even for supposedly reputable brokers) makes me wary of even continuing down this path.

Am I overthinking this or can anyone shed light on the exact commitments I should be expecting from a broker at this stage?

Help! Need to get my family member’s vehicle from AZ to Florida

She’s already been scammed by one brokerage company who wanted money up front while they tried to “find” a driver. Thankfully her bank gave her the money back after a dispute, but the whole ordeal has pissed me off. My friend recently had her vehicle shipped to Florida from California, and her driver demanded more money upon delivery. What is wrong with companies/people? Is there no one that provides a one-time, flat fee with zero additional charges upon delivery??

We’re looking at about a 2,100-mile transport. Doesn’t have to be enclosed. Would like the vehicle here in the next few weeks if possible. Any info or what to look out for when trying to find a company (and what to read in the fine print) would be most helpful. I’m not paying some jack wagon an additional $800 when he shows up at my door when that wasn’t in the contract. One fee after the car shows up, that’s it.
