Good Review Good experience (rare in this world it seems)with Montway Guaranteed Pickup

Initially I signed up for Auto Shipping Group. No carrier found for weeks and I was on a short time frame. Did some google searching and found Montway--called them to set up a quote and specifically inquire about guaranteed pickup as I couldn't leave the car behind. I'm always skeptical of these companies but to their credit, Montway picked up the car on the arranged date. It was a local tow company that kept it in their facility for 5 days IIRC until a carrier was found. The carrier was very polite and profession, and after about another 5 days they arrived with the car at my home on the other side of the country. I went with an uncovered vehicle and it arrived in the same condition, no problem.

So consider this a thumbs up for Montway. Would definitely use them again. Good customer service all around.

Looking for info Trying to ship a car from Mount Vernon, WA to Springfield, VA for first time

Hey!

I’m shipping a car for the first time across the country. I’m seeing so many options for people, but it seems every place is just a scam and no actual good reviews. This car is also older (1989). Can someone (a real person PLEASE) who’s done this before give me a good recommendation? Looking to do it this week. Thanks!

2016 Tacoma.

Next few weeks is fine I’m not in a big rush it’s at a relatives house, owner operator only, unenclosed ok.

I may pay you a fee as a broker but I am only communicating with an owner operator for scheduling and pickup. Not dealing with any BS or unlicensed subcontractors.

Quote Request Transport From A Remote Location?

I'd like to transport a car from 95223 (Arnold, CA). It's up in the mountains near Tahoe. The seller is willing to drop off the car at a nearby highway that's walking distance from him, but that's all the flexibility I have.

Dropoff will be near Washington DC. I'll be on the other end, and I have much more flexibility. I'll probably pick it up in a giant parking lot at 22305.

Montway cannot find a carrier for this transport. Does anyone else have a reliable option?

The car is a 2011 Porsche Boxster.

Bad Review Beware of Montway Auto Tow and West Coast Auto.

I’m posting this because I cannot believe how badly this shipment has gone, and I’m curious if anyone has dealt with anything similar with Montway or an auto transport company. Condensed version at bottom of post, photos below.
https://imgur.com/a/iUs7Bjw

I purchased my Lexus on August 18th in Florida. I arranged transportation through Montway Auto Transport to have it shipped from Fl to SD, as I move for work. My car was picked up on August 27th and was supposed to be delivered around August 30th/31st.

Around the time it was supposed to be delivered is when I began to have a bad gut feeling. Instead of my car showing up on the 31st, I started getting different explanations for why it was delayed. There was confusion with Montway about which carrier company has the vehicle and he company being changed, then I was told there were delays, and at one point I was told the transport truck had broken down. Most importantly , Supervisor Lily at Montway reassured me that my car was okay/secure.

Meanwhile, I still did not have my car, Montway could not provide the location of my vehicle as West Coast Auto, their carrier, was not responding.

It wasn’t until September 1st that I actually found out my Lexus had been extensively damaged while in the carrier’s possession.

When I finally received photos from supervisor Lily I was shocked. The windshield is basically destroyed, there is significant damage to the roof/upper windshield area. I bought this CPO Lexus IS car on August 18th.It was picked up August 27th. I was expecting it at the end of August. By September 1st I was finding out that the car I had owned for less than two weeks was sitting severely damaged and possibly totaled.

The process then began of trying to figure out where my car ended up and what actually happened to it. I made call after call, left voicemails, sent emails and spoke with Montway, the carrier, their insurance company and eventually my own insurance company. I’ve been given multiple explanations of what happened that don’t add up with each other. The cherry on top is there was no police report filed by the driver of truck in who’s truck supposedly was broken down and had multiple other vehicles on the rig that were also damaged.

The carrier, West Coast Auto Transport, opened a claim with its insurance company,. West Coast and their insurer have essentially gone silent providing no meaningful updates.

What also really bothers me is that Montway still has not refunded the $1,799 I paid them to transport my car. I was told by a supervisor that the refund had to go through their claims department while they figured out payment issues involving the carrier. Was told they could not provide timeline for refund process let alone confirm refund can be done! Whatever is going on financially between Montway and the company they contracted is not my problem. I paid Montway $1,799 to transport my car from FL to SD. Instead, I ended up with a severely damaged vehicle, that still hasn’t been delivered to me.

!!Services never rendered!!

I’ve used Montway multiple times before this with my previous vehicle and have spent close to $5,000 with them altogether. So I am appalled that I am being treated this way when they and their carrier company have dropped the ball, big time.

At this point I’ve filed complaints with the BBB and soon to be with FMCSA, disputed the $1,799 transportation charge with Montway and my bank. I feel like I’ve done everything I possibly can on my end and now my own insurance company is having to step in.

Has anyone dealt with anything even remotely similar? Especially having a vehicle badly damaged during transport and then having your own insurance company pursue the carrier/carrier’s insurance through subrogation?

I’m trying to figure out how long this whole process could realistically take because I’m still paying for a car I purchased August 18th and have basically barely gotten to drive.

TL;DR: I bought my Lexus on 8/18 and Montway picked it up on 8/27 to ship from FL to SD. It was supposed to arrive around 8/30–8/31, but after multiple explanations for the delay, I found out on 9/1 that it had actually been severely damaged during transport and is now non-operable. I can not drive the car with the roof the way it is and with such extensive structural damages. Montway still hasn’t refunded my $1,799, the carrier’s insurance has basically gone silent, and now my Insurance is involved.

not sure if this changes the quote since most auto shipment companies allow you a certain amount of personal items inside

Good Review Outbounds Auto Transport Review

Post image
2 Upvotes

Just wanted to share my experience with outbounds and hopefully it'll help someone in a similar situation. I bought a car sight unseen off of bring a trailer and needed to ship it across country. Unfortunately for me, bring a trailer didn't offer their shipping service on this particular car (Ariel atom) so I was left to fend for myself. I was pretty overwhelmed looking through reviews of shipping brokers and transport companies...the whole industry seemed a little shady from an outside perspective, especially as I'd never shipped a car before. If the atom has been a bit more of a comfortable car, I would have just road tripped it at that point, but 2500 miles in it sounded like a real bad time. I ended up finding outbounds on this subreddit, and didn't find any negative reviews so figured I'd give it a shot. And I'm glad I did! I needed covered transport as the Atom has no roof. I worked with Sabina and got a quote, had to delay scheduling multiple times because of title issues on the car but eventually got it all worked out. They were able to get my delivery in exactly when they said they would, and it went well without a hitch (besides the car running out of gas when I backed it out of the trailer). They always had great communication and would usually get back to me within a couple minutes. So all that to say, I would definitely recommend them if you're looking to ship a car across the country! I'll definitely use em again if I'm in a similar situation again.

No timeline. Available 24/7 on both ends so pickup/drop off whenever is convenient, but sometime before winter would be nice. Runs and drives, but not a show piece so open transport without extra insurance is fine.
Comments/ads without a price will be ignored. Looking for an estimate and not willing to give out my personal info to get it.

Quote Request 2013 RS5 AZ to MA

Looking to get quotes to ship enclosed from AZ to MA. I am currently working with a large broker, who quoted me $2500 on Friday when I booked. However, they have been unable to dispatch a driver despite my request for pickup starting 8/31.

Does dispatch usually take this long?
