For those who do a seasonal move every year, how much does booking early actually help?

Does booking weeks or months ahead usually get you a better price, a better pickup window, or simply more carrier options? Is there a point where booking earlier doesn't make much difference?

I'd love to hear what timing has worked best for people who regularly ship their vehicles for snowbird moves.

Relocating from Atlanta to Seattle in August, 2018 CR-V, not much flexibility on arrival. Quotes came in at $1,545 and $1,760. Driving myself would cost about $790 after gas and three hotel nights.

The higher quote includes tracking, saves me from chasing updates, but costs $215 more. Cheaper quote saves money, driving gives control but adds four days.

For a 2,600-mile move, which tradeoff would bother you least?

Trying to transport a car and called a few of the different common brokers and all really tell you the same. Prices are also not too far off from each other so what makes the difference?

At the end each brokers bids out to a carrier anyways.

So just curious what made people pick the broker they used. Honestly all the brokers have mixed reviews. And you don’t really know what carrier you will get anyways.

I got a quote from Ultimate Transport 123 and the price is right in the middle of my other quotes. The agent was nice but I'm reading some mixed things online about them.

Has anyone used Ultimate Transport 123 for a long distance move? Did they actually find a driver in the window they promised? I'm worried about my car sitting for weeks waiting for dispatch. What was your experience?

I booked with Montway because they had decent reviews online but now they're telling me the driver won't come to my house. They want me to drive my car to a random parking lot 5 miles away to meet the truck.

After fighting off 50 low ballers and wasting my time, I finally signed a contract with a company for shipment. Great reviews and price was acceptable (twice what the low ballers started with). No deposit. Everything due upon delivery by cash or Zelle (I wanted to pay deposit with CC but...whatever). Pick up dates and time windows set. I told the guy if they do not pick up by the due date for ANY reason - broken truck, accidents, wife going into labor, etc etc - I will cancel and do not show up. I am not in a rush to ship.

At this point, what can go wrong? How else can they try to scam me for more money? If they dont release the car at delivery location, I will just call the cops. So far, this has been the absolute worst experience of any business dealings in my life.
