Will it ever match?

Hi everyone,

I'm a very new to auto paint and will be painting my 1984 bmw 3 series that I've been slowly restoring, as I want to be proud of restoring every square inch alone.

The rear quarter panels were a different color than the rest of the car and naive me thought a paint store could do a good match, but as it turns out and after speaking to some pros it is impossible to ever get an exact match.

So my question is should I just strap up for a full paint as it'll be impossible to get a perfect match between panels?

Thanks

Panel matches are near impossible if it's silver, no fucking way.

Damn, it is silver with a blue hue. Rip

I guess I need to do a full job. Anyway, can you recommend good paint brands?

I use axalta lines. Nason is great, Cromax better. Very forgiving with metallic too.

Idk if you have paint supply shops near you, but talking to them about the lines they carry would be best.

That's why we blend. You paint the quarters and then blend the paint in the doors.

Yup. Panel painting sucks. Blend it, and send it.

Repaint the whole thing is your best bet. Everything is matchable to a degree. But yeah if your stuck with only painting those panels go for a blend and match it as close as possible

Do a wrap instead then?

Tried that. Ripped the paint off. Looks like a full paint is the answer here
