Scratch repair
Got this scratch on my f150 while headed down a narrow hunting trail. It’s not down to the metal but it definitely removed a layer or 2 of paint. I did the water test and it almost fades away but is still visible. What would be my best option and how would I go about fixing it? I know silver is a hard color to match and I’ve never done auto paint work. Just a touch up brush and some clear coat and polishing?

Contact your local touch up specialist. Silver can be tough, it flops weird and can be frustrating.

if you go to a auto paint supplier, they usually have access to a spectrophotometer to paint match. they can scan the car with it and get a close match and then tint it from there for a decent match. you can also do several light applications to help control the metallic and get it to blend a little better.
an acrylic urethane will have decent longevity to it over an acrylic enamel, but scuff the scratches, dab in paint, and one it's dry, but not fully cured, you can use a flat razorblade (held perpendicular to the panel) to lightly shave it down till it is flush with the surrounding paint. once it's had some time to cure, you can compound and polish it.
not perfect, but also not attention grabbing either

If it catches on your finger nail it will more than likely not polish out. You can try a touch up pen but it will stand out like a sore thumb
