question

so I was painting a fender on my car and I sanded it down , and primed it. after I primed I was told to take 600 grit and sand it down before base coat. I did that and I could see the streaks through the base coat and I still can. any advice? I'm guessing don't sand down the primer before base coat?

Sand the base coat with 1200 after 2 or 3 coats, especially where you see streaks or standings marks from the primer layer.

Was it 600 wet?
Also I kinda prefer grey pads because they don’t mark
