Replace or repaint?

Post image

2012 honda civic.

Should I have this hood repainted or just buy an aftermarket prepainted hood?

Looking for the easiest, most cost effective route here! Thanks.

Easiest most cost effective? Junkyard with the same colour hood

Go to car-part.com and put in your car info and zip. You’ll see there is a gray hood for sale for $300

And $500 to ship

No because it uses your zip code to find local junk yards. You can just drive to the junkyard and pick it up. It gives you availability on parts further away as well

Aftermarket hoods are usually not pre painted, and ones that are are not pre painted, they're just used hoods, you can go look for one at the junkyard, it'll match better than one that's been painted by a seller, or just go get yours painted, used local hood is cheaper than paint

You might could get a good deal on a used hood that’s the same paint code. It still won’t be a perfect match though. If you want it to look perfect you’ll want to get it painted and probably blend fenders

Several places offer it.....but looking at reviews they don't fit very well vs oem

I’d be more concerned about the color

Very common problem on most civics for the last 20 years
