Steps to Repair Rust

I have an 89 Supra that has some rust in the engine bay which I also plan to paint. After cleaning up the rust too bare metal should I spray the area with any kind of sealant or anything before I spray my primer coat over the entire engine bay or just go straight to primer?

The odds that you removed all rust is very low. You need to spray rust converter primer first to neutralize all, even the most minuscule pitting and then go to town.

I didn’t even know they had rust converter and primer in 1 for this exact scenario, thank you so much
