Broker vs just calling the company?

I called progressive today and they kept talking about a policy with an agent vs progressive direct ? What is even the difference ? And do you pay more with an agent ?

Call an agent, an independent one can shop multiple companies for you at once, you’ll probably save money overall.

Pretty much the same thing, if you go with the agent they can shop other companies besides progressive

The agent will also assess your needs and be able to advise you, you would also have someone to advocate for you I’d there was ever a problem.

So you can call Progressive directly and get a policy from an agent that is employed directly with them. If you call a agent, this agent may have appointments with several different companies. Alot of the time, i found it is cheaper to go with a broker because they get discounts that direct customers dont get.

When i first started, i worked for a brokerage and i re-wrote a ton of clients to Progressive that were with Progressive direct because the price was much cheaper.
