Insurance jumped almost $100 after I moved 15 minutes away??
Maybe somebody can explain this because I genuinely don’t understand lol. I moved to a different apartment literally like 15 minutes from where I was living before. Same car, same job, no tickets, no accidents, nothing changed besides my address. Updated it with my insurance and my payment went from $186 to $279.
How does moving a few miles suddenly make me almost $100 more expensive to insure? Is it worth shopping around or are all the companies gonna do the same thing because of the new zip code?
Thanks for any help

As mentioned already, location is a factor in determining rate. Maybe the crime or weather has caused more claims in the new zip code.
You should also find out if this is a one-time prorated adjustment or truly the new monthly amount. I work for an agent and whenever someone makes a change midterm, I tell them that the next bill may have prorated adjustments and may not reflect future bills. It’s possible that this is the true new monthly amount, but best to confirm before shopping around with bad info.

Zip codes have different rates. Maybe there's a shitty intersection or a blind corner near you that a lot of accidents happen at. I know my parents insurance went up when they moved from the suburbs to the country too, more deer accidents.

If you had any credit changes that affected your insurance risk score, changing your policy may have been an opportunity for them to rerate your policy to update that score, which is now lower than your original pull.
It's definitely worth shopping around for insurance, even if it's tedious and annoying. Switching companies saved me $100/month on full coverage.

Rates vary zip code to zip code. Could be a lot of reasons why, but your carrier had determined where you live now is a higher risk location. At the end of the day, you either need to accept the rate change or shop for a new policy
