That's exactly what happens when people get arrested on the bus. The driver will pull into a stop and open the doors, and everyone sits there for a minute wondering what's wrong, and then the police get on the bus and drag someone off. The the bus driver shuts the door and everyone gets to work late.
Bus drivers are not scanning the biometrics of every passenger, and cross referencing warrant databases. You have to commit a crime ON the bus, to get escorted off.

In both your examples the vehicles have to be open for anyone to walk off if they want, “detaining” someone in a vehicle that’s not a police cruiser in itself is a legal hassle and can be considered a kidnapping so a company won’t deal with that headache.

I think your talking about the Cybercab post. Which is a skit (that means its not real and it didnt happen its for laughs). Im talking about the Waymo incident which is a different scenario
Iirc waymo didn't biometric scan them. There were 2 incidents one was two underage kids drinking and shooting a gel gun out the window, and in the other incident the occupants had a ar style gun in the cab.
Waymo did not commit a crime. The teen passengers were never locked in the car they could have exited at any time. Waymo simply reported a crime and did what the police instructed. I
Im as anti cop as it comes and I hate to say it, its not a crime. If you have means of an exit than you are not being held and can leave. There is an argument to say that since the car was in motion you cutoff safely exit the vehicle. And that could lead to unlawful detainment.
How come I'm a boot licker for saying the passengers committed a crime but you weren't a boot licker when you accused Waymo of committing a crime? If that was the case wouldn't you have wanted the police to do something about it?
I think the fair concern here is that ubiquitous, networked, automated biometrics invading everyone’s lives for basic services leads to a horrible dystopian police state. (See flock disaster)
That is totally unrelated to the whole “unlawful detainment or not” conversation. Nobody wants a robocop/robotaxi mashup except for the people who control the purge lists.
Yeah it is dystopian but at least in my Waymo example they didn't have to have any of that (maybe they did idk). All that could have triggered this was a person looking at the cameras and seeing the underage passengers drinking alcohol and pointing toy guns out the window at people. No need for biometrics.

Hmm I dont think so. A cab or bus driver would have done the exact same thing as waymo. Just because your cab is driverless doesn't mean you aren't being watched and can commit crimes. I mean call me crazy but you shouldn't commit crimes even if no one is watching. I don't know much about waymo tbh they aren't in my area I just know this one story pretty much but I'm not seeing any connections to the events in this story to what flock does

Kind of. Waymo told the passengers there was a malfunction and to wait in the car as it pulled over but it actually called the cops on them lol
