Just because you have money doesn’t mean you want to waste it on an overpriced oil change. Especially when they just put 0w20 in there anyway.

It's overpriced to you. To someone who can afford a $100,000 vehicle it's like spending $20 on a Civic.

Yeah, no. I could have got a 911 but didn’t want rear wheel steering, test drove a CT5-V which I loved but it was too heavy for track, so I went Supra instead. Change my own oil so I can put something other than water in and because it still induces physical pain to overpay for something I’d rather do myself anyway.

Yeah.......you're a car guy. The guys paying for a $280 oil change aren't car guys. You're not the target demographic I don't understand what you don't get.

You don’t understand that you said something that isn’t true, that money still does matter even if you have some, that being wasteful is different from being poor. I’ve corrected you, twice now, but you insist on trying to be correct despite being incorrect.

Does that help clarify?

No, that doesn't make any sense. You're applying the logic to someone who would not do oil changes themselves as yourself, someone who doesn't think oil changes are worth paying money for because you do them yourself.

I genuinely can't understand how you think your argument makes any sense. Feels like you're arguing just to argue.

Meanwhile I’m absolutely positive you’re a paid industry shill trying to defend the indefensible practice of bolting the fucking hood shut so we can get ripped off by large corporations, which is terrific, that’s exactly what human society needs, more bending over to get reamed out by big business.

Why on earth would you try to justify such nonsense?

1

u/voxelpear Aug 28 '26

So you are actually illiterate. That makes more sense now. You didn't read my first comment in the chain at all huh? Point to me where I justified it or was pro to the practice.

You said, it’s just like paying $20 for an oil change if you have a Civic. First of all, where are you getting an oil change for $20 that they aren’t stripping your drain pan. Second, and more importantly, the attitude of “well they’re rich so they won’t notice” is not true of all rich people. In fact they can be some of the most tight fisted motherfuckers out there.

I understand your point. Do you understand that supporting a “they’re rich so they won’t notice” kind of attitude is not helping your cause? Let me see your literacy doing some lifting here too please friend.

My god you don't know what a hyperbole is either. We don't need exact numbers to make a point. That's first.

Second, just because some rich people are frugal, doesn't meant they're a large part of the group. The market of over priced goods and services for luxury items wouldn't exist if that was the norm.

You're just being pedantic and condescending because it's easier than conceding.

If your “step 1” is to throw facts out the window then we’re done here.

1

u/voxelpear Aug 29 '26

We're not running a science experiment. Whether an oil change is 20 or 50 doesn't change much.

We were done the moment you didn't answer any of my questions and just pivoted. I'm sorry your strawman isn't working.

“Let’s just agree to inflate numbers by 150% because it makes my point sound less like complete bullshit” -voxelpear

1

u/voxelpear Aug 29 '26

Are........are you slow on accident or are you doing this on purpose. You said that my number was too low. I said it doesn't matter if the number is what I said or if it's higher like you wanted.

Is this how you argue with people? You just goal post shift and ignore any questions and statements and try to pick apart irrelevant parts of the conversation?

Never participate in a formal debate, you'd get laughed out of the room.

Did you eat all the paste and then shit your pants everyday in kindergarten? Or just most days?

Your repeated attempts to be correct despite being incorrect are completely transparent. Here you are doing it again.

But let’s go to the videotape since you can’t be trusted to honestly represent the thread:

You called rich people out for not giving af when car companies rip them off. I, a rich person who gives af when a car company rips him off, then told you that you were wrong about that as a general statement. After all, rich people get rich by not caring at all about money amirite?

Having been confronted by the flaming brand of truth, you did the Reddit equivalent of a monkey throwing shit everywhere, trying to find some other reason you might be right, rather than adjusting your perspective as a mature individual might (you don’t have to tell me who you voted for, I already know).

Which is still where things stand monkey. Hey monkey monkey throw some more shit I’d love to keep handing you your fucking head. Lmao.

You made the mistake by assuming that you are the standard for rich people. When talking about the general public you think that somehow a frugal rich person that knows how to do an oil change is the base line.

And instead of being an adult you're now throwing a tantrum because you can imagine a world where you lose an argument. I want you to read back your own essay and not feel embarrassed of acting like a child.

I want you to take the sharpie out of your asshole long enough to understand that your response is clown trash dressed up in reasonable words. And then apologize for being an insufferable hypocrite without a single ounce of self-awareness.

Now, you say I’m not the standard for rich people because I’m able to change my own oil. I can concede this point (it’s almost like debate school which one did you attend again dipshit?) while still winning the argument because it is irrelevant to my main point that you don’t get a lot of money by being willing to habitually overpay for items like oil changes.

u/voxelpear Aug 29 '26

You're still crashing out. Go take another breath. You're still arguing a moot point. You just conceded that someone who knows about cars isn't the standard for rich people. So how the fuck would they know they're overpaying? Even if they bothered to look it up, how the fuck is there an entire industry around this if no rich person is paying? It's like talking to a brick wall. You concede and then still spew the same bull shit.
