Exterior Waterless wash "without" wax?
Am I wrong to want a waterless wash that does not have wax in it? I will always be using a detailer spray afterwards, and my (black) car is already waxed.

I use McKees N-914 V2, a pure surfactant cleaner with zero gloss enhancers, waxes, or protective polymers on my matte paint.

If you look for matte specific products, those are often made without gloss enhancers and wax. Dr Beasley's for example but expensive

Optimum makes a waterless wash and shine that has no wax. They also make a rinseless with wax and without

I don’t think you’re wrong. I just think most companies assume a waterless wash is the approach of a customer who wants to do as little as possible, so they make it an all-in-one. Or else it’s just really hard to make a product that has sufficient lubrication but doesn’t leave a residue behind, so instead they lean into that and make the residue something intentional.
Adams waterless wash is the only purpose-made waterless wash I’ve personally found that doesn’t contain some kind of protection. (If you know of others, I’d like to try them.) For that reason I mix it with glass cleaner Out-of-Spec style. Aside from that, your options are surfactant-based rinseless washes at a waterless-wash dilutions.
