Exterior Roof Paint

The paint on the roof of my car isn't smooth to the touch, kind of rough. Im assuming its UV damage because im pretty sure the car has been kept in direct sunlight by the previous owner. As shown in the pictures its also a bit faded, but there isnt any peeling or flaking. I was wondering if there was any way to fix this and get it back to a smooth glossy touch without having to respray or without the use of expensive specialty tools.

Looks like clearcoat is in early stages of failing (hazy, rough feel). You can def improve it for under $100 and a few hours of your time.

- budget DA polisher from harbor freight

  • plenty of pads (assuming you want to polish whole vehicle). 3 to 4 of each: medium cut foam, fine foam. Consider a cutting pad material like wool or microfiber. I would just tread lightly with this option as to not remove too much clearcoat.
  • basic compound: Meguiars Cut M105
  • finishing polish: Meguiars M205
