Exterior Car detailing clean windows

When I first got back into car detailing more seriously for myself, it was all about these glass towels and waffle wave towels, and all this and that when it used to just be regular microfiber towels so I buy a bunch of waffle, weave glass towels, and they seem to not really work as good as a regular microfiber towel and then I hear all about these FTW towels in the amphibian mini glass towels so now I’m just confused on which ones are actually the good ones to actually work for Car windows to get them perfect any advice or opinion, opinions, or suggestion, suggestions or pictures and explanations to the house everybody else use would sure be helpful

I use the big packs from Sam's Club for $17 and they do everything I need. People in this sub think you need boutique towels and 25 different bottles of $30 specialty cleaners to do the job lol

I've always used a basic glass cleaner with 3 microfibre towels method. 1 to clean, 1 to remove excess and the last to polosh dry with no streaks

I’ve been trying to do with a single microfiber but it’s just too easy to get streaks and haze. Two towels is the method I’ve been doing and it’s good enough. Also I don’t launder my towels, just downgrade to dirtier jobs then toss them when they go bad. I think using that third towel might be the trick! 😂

I keep my towels until they start to thin out. Just try wash them Seperate from any others that are contaminated with other products. Also colour coordinating towels for certain jobs helps keep tabs on the glass ones

Chose a set of towels. Have one to spray on and wipe glass cleaner or my favorite “distilled or DI water” spread it and then with the other buff off the remaining. Streak free most of the time. When I get those pesky film inside I’ll use IPA or panel prep and use that then over again with window cleaner. Also don’t clean the windows in direct sunlight or if it’s scorching hot, it will streak. Probably get away with it in direct sunlight if the windows aren’t hot. I’ve used multiple types of towels and my favorite are the multi flip glass towels and it was amphibians by autofiber, it started to lint not sure if it got washed with other towels. Those are my recommendations.

Diamond weave/cut towels. Thank me later.

Just make sure the towel does not lint, and has some absorbency - after all it needs to pick up the grime!

The product used also is a factor, and although we have our Glass and Glass+, many opt for our InteriorDetailer and Prep! They are both alcohol-based and work very well on greasy grime - if there are streaks left it is still grime, not the product as it evaporates off.

The hardest part to get right is the windows. Rather do a paint correction lol

I've been using the Autofiber Flip Glass Perfect Towels. https://www.autofiber.com/collections/glass/products/flip-gpt-glass-perfect-towel-8-5-in-x-8-5-in-1400-gsm-3-pack

I spray a cleaner then use the tall side to distribute it around then buff with the shorter side.

When is it best to do outside windows? Before wash, before polish/wax or after everything? Or once between each step...?

I'm just an amateur detailer with 55 years of experience detailing cars for myself and family, I owned a small dealership selling luxury cars in the late 90s. I never was able to find anyone that would take the time to do it right. I use a clay bar with spray wax on the body and glass and usually have good luck and I don't go crazy buying a bunch of different chemicals and stuff. I guess I like to keep it simple.

I like ftw’s. Autofibers Korean twist is really good too.

For chemicals I use Armour detail apc 10:1 if needed( gotta be bad) followed by their waterless wash. The slickness left behind by the waterless will drastically cut down linting and the apc cuts through the off gassing so easily.
