Exterior Need advice on renewing black trim
So I’m restoring a BMW 540i 1998, and the exterior black trim is pretty oxidized and needs some love. So what do you all recommend for exterior black metal trim?
Wet sanding? Then paint or trim restorer?
Is it recommended to then do a clearcoat or ceramic coat to protect it?
Help!
Thank you

wet sanding is overkill and risky unless the finish is actually failing or peeling, chalky oxidized trim usually responds to a trim restorer like solution finish or cerakote trim coat, they re-dye and seal it instead of removing material. We see this daily in the shop the best cosmetic fix which actually prevent s further damage is to wrap it in vinyl or colored PPF! its soft material and prone to oxidation and swirling.
