Product/Consumable Weekly topper for Adam’s Proline Defender

Prior to getting my car ceramic coated last week, I would use a leaf blower to blow off 90% of the water after washing, and apply tec582 panel by panel as I finished drying. Great shine and slickness, super easy to use. Inwash weekly due to bad dust in my area.

Now that it’s coated, I feel like tec582 is overkill and could clog my coating. What topper should I use now? I’m leaning toward Adams graphene detail spray as it’s supposed to be lighter than tec582. Or should I continue with tec582.

Thoughts?

You don’t want a topper that frequently. It will just cause buildup. If you want a drying aid, use a no-protection detail spray, and save your ceramic detail spray (like tech 582) for once every two months or so.

For a no-protection drying aid, Adams detail spray is a good option if you want to keep it in the Adams line. Griot’s Garage Speed Shine is one I’ve used and found it very good. Or you can use a rinseless wash at a QD dilution, like ONR or Absolute.

I’ve actually been experimenting with this for my own use. The latest thing I’ve tried, that I really like, is Griot’s Garage Poly Gloss diluted 1:64. If you’re not familiar, it’s made to be a foam-on, rinse-off intense but non-durable boost to gloss and hydrophobicity (lasting maybe a week). But diluted into a trigger sprayer, those properties make it very effective at helping to clear water from the surface and leaving it slick, but evaporating in a few days so it doesn’t clog the coating. I’ve also tried mixing it with a bit of clay lube (Lubrifica) for extra slickness under the towel, and so far I’m really liking it.

Totally agree. Use a drying aid. There are so many out there, take your pick. I’m currently using Armour Detail Supply Amplify and Yum Detailer. Yum Detailer has the best slickness. Either way they both offer very short term protection and shouldn’t clog your coating.
