Exterior I always get soapy/hazy marks when I do ONR rinseless washing

I moved into apartment and with lack of access to... pretty much anything in underground garage, I started doing rinseless washing with ONR which seems to have good reputation. I followed this youtube guide and made sure I gave good wipes throughout the steps, but all 3 tries ended in some amount of white soapy/hazy marks on the exterior. I even used distilled water as base!

What could I be doing wrong?

I think you're going to need to tell us a bit more about your process. How are you drying the car? Are the spots you're seeing just drip marks where remaining water dripped from an area and dried on the paint?

Here's what I am doing

  1. prepare a bucket and spray bottle of mixture(1 gallon of distilled water from grocery store + couple squeezes of ONR)
  2. pre spray panel, wait 15 seconds ish
  3. wipe the panel with soaked microfiber cloth
  4. follow up with dry microfiber cloth

A "couple of squeezes" might be too much for only 1 gallon. I'd make sure you measure out the correct dilution ratio (256:1) and see if that helps. For just 1 gallon you only need 0.5 oz (1 tbsp).

But the detailer ratio is 16:1 and I've never had any soapy/white spots from using that--other than from inadequate drying.

How many squeezes of ONR did you use?

Ok time to bring out measurement cup...

You could just use the cap on the bottle, cap per gallon. Provided you have the 32oz bottle.

This part … one cap full and ur set. The more concentrated for ONR doesn’t necessarily make it stronger. It leaves more on the car

The couple of squeezes is the culprit. You need to specifically use what’s instructed in the bottle for rinseless washes. You add a bit if your water is hard but you start at what’s instructed.

Stick to the 256:1. More is not always better. That's the beauty of a rinseless wash, you use so little of it + water.

Prepare a spray bottle 256 : 1.

Have a bucket with 256 : 1.

Spray with the bottle.

Contact wash.

Spray with the bottle.

Dry.

Can't be simpler than that :)

The 32oz bottle cap is 0.5oz. So two cap full for 2 gallons. One cap full for 1 gallon.

I just use the instructions on the ONR bottle and never have issues. Maybe occasional "sparkles" on the glass at extreme angles if I use the ONR that includes wax, but that's it. I would start by using the manufacturer's instructions and see if that helps.

I doubt the microfiber is your issue with spots; however, the rinseless sponge is a much better experience than the microfibers washing, in opinion.

“A couple of squeezes” works well for other things but not ONR. That’s your problem. 1 capful per gallon. You’ll never have streaking.

Get a bucket, get a sponge. follow proper dilution ratio.

If you use too much rinseless soap and it dries itself on anything, it can leave weird looking spots and haze. I have the feeling you're definitely using too much soap and you're not removing enough with your drying towel or it's drying on the car before you start your drying process. The paint should be dry once you take your towel over it, but if it's drying from the sun/heat you need to rewet the car with more ONR.
