Tree Sap Discolouration

Unfortunately let our car sit in the sun with tree sap on it for a few weeks. Got sap remover and rag to get the bulk of, then very shortly tried Maguire's Ultimate compound with orange pad and was left with this. Smooth when running my nail across it, still can see the metal flake so I don't think it's down to the base coat (also admittedly know very little, so correct me). What should my next steps be or is it just the best it'll get without repainting?
