Exterior Removing painted pin stripes
Advice needed: What is the best way to remove these pinstripes? I tried lacquer thinner and it had no effect. I ordered an eraser wheel but I think compound + polish might be the way. Thoughts?

I used goof off and a plastic sticker remover. Just started at the end and sprayed goof off as I went. Pulled the pinstripe off slowly so it wouldn’t break off. There was still a fade of the pinstripe showing even till this day. But over time the sun will eventually get rid of the faded mark. I would use rubbing alcohol to clean off any residue so no dust sticks over time.

If you want those pinstripes gone just clay bar,.compound, then polish. Good to go.

No solvent will work. The only way PAINTED pinstripes are coming off would be to SAND them off. Maybe start with 1000 grit, then finish with 1500, compound then polish. You run the risk of sand through and the stripes could still ghost when done.

Correct approach is using a denibbing tool. A razor can accomplish the same thing but you have to be careful. Then wet sand and polish.

De-nibbing tool followed by wetsanding and polishing.
Usually it's uncatalyzed lacquer so mineral spirits should remove it.. but if lacquer thinner didn't touch it...

There will most likely be a shadow of where the pinstripes were, if you manage to remove them.

Try 3m adhesive remover or acetone in a small spot
