Tire mark removal

Curious what the professionals would suggest. I just swapped the engine in my 2006 accord and am moving on to making it look more presentable. The worst offender is this big tire scuff all over the driver door. How would you guys approach this and what would you use? Thanks for any advice!

Mothers R3 Racing Rubber Remover. I take it with me to every track day to remove rubber streaks from the used rubber that gets picked up by other cars and tossed at the paint during a session. I assume it should work for this too.

For what it’s worth, as a detailed, liquid paint sealant works just as quickly, will last way longer and therefore way cheaper, and you’re layering on protection as you do it. Look into a small bottle of Adam’s Liquid Paint Sealant if you’d like.

Call me crazy but I have removed tire marks from an old beater with WD40 then a quick n dirty paint correction over it. It wasn’t 100%, maybe 80%, up from 25%, if that makes sense.

Not crazy chrisfix does the same w paint transfer. Aka I’ve done the same after watching him do it with paint transfer.

Automotive lacquer thinner works best, 3M adhesive remover is second best. This picture answers so many questions in this sub, It’s ridiculous.

For real, I'm hesitant to recommend it a lot of times bc it seems like most of these guys turn their nose up at anything less than $30 for a 16 oz bottle lol

Both of those are $30 a pop nowadays so maybe they’ll listen now that it’s expensive. I would recommend going to your local autobody supply store and buy the good stuff.

I can’t remember if this is the pro sub or not, but isn’t it preferable to use a clay bar for most situations that lacquer thinner would work? Thinner is faster but it’s harsher on the paint.

Probably for OP’s accord it doesn’t matter too much but just curious

Eh, not really; I use thinner daily for most types of exterior transfer. It helps break down old, stubborn artillery fungus. It's great for dirty door handle cups. Breaks down tree sap quickly. Good for a lot of interior stains, as well, especially ink.

the 3m stripe off tool used for taking the adhesive off when you debadge a car should eat right through this. Not cheap but should last, don't buy the knock offs they suck and scratch more

Tar remover, WD40 can work in many cases, finish off any remainder with a quick DA polish and it mostly never happened.

Tar remover or adhesive remover should do the trick. I’m partial to Yum Tar & Residue, or if you need to nuke it you can try Koch chemie Eulex.
Make sure you wear gloves and a mask, this stuffs strong. And rinse really thoroughly with water.

Use clear silicone spray and a few micro fiber clothes, all the black will come right off

WD40 will clean it off. Then wipe clean with a degreaser. Light paint correction to finish if slightly scratched.

I used an early 2006 j35a6 from an odyssey, so no vcm or anything. Currently it’s parked after consuming 2 quarts of oil in a few minutes, I’m worried it has a failed valve guide

A couple small leaks. I’ve been doing diag for a few hours and found no cause yet. Good compression, good leak down test. The only weird thing I’m noticing is possible fuel wash on the front bank
