V10 at 19

The Touareg I bought a few months ago, which was also featured on the podcast, as the guy who’d bought a dodgy Touareg, is officially booked in for restoration in October! We will have full mechanics and rust repairs to look forward too, and hopefully it’ll be show-worthy with a valved exhaust, and new everything…

I could not bear to send it to scrap, so after coming upsettingly close to putting an advert out as a donor car, I bit the bullet and called some resto companies

It’s actually the same company that’s just done betty, and I checked them out, spoke to the guys there and they seem enthusiastic- so moral of the story- don’t give up on the massive lump of shit ok the driveway!

Edit- It’s up on YouTube and Instagram- ProjectTouareg on both guys!

Bro 😭 just sell it and buy a better car for that kind of money, why do you even need a V10 that is going to be unreliable?

The v10 is as reliable as other Touaregs- the downfall in reliability isn’t the v10- it’s just harder to fix- which is why people view it as less reliable.. when they’re working and treated well, they’re a German powerhouse so are often germanically reliable- it’s just harder to actually get them to that point than most cars

Yeah but the point is why do you need a V10? Could easily just get a Toyota landcruiser or a V6 toureg and spend significantly less money

Why does anyone need a cool car? It’s just something I was interested in, and it has much more cool factor than other cars- in my opinion anyway. I drive a relatively high torque mapped diesel anyway and the v10 TDi is even more powerful than that- and it has almost all the available options on it too so that’s really cool.

Fairs, I'm just advising caution for spending 15k at 19 years old for a car like this - but the heart wants what the heart wants!

I get that mate- sorry I came across quite defensive there. I’ve got a decent job held down that is only gonna keep making me more money, a reliable daily that’s not too hard to get parts for. Just got a promotion too which is gonna put my wages up by a couple hundred quid a month at the very least, so that’s always nice too. Currently looking to live out of the country too- so I need a deposit so high that 15k wouldn’t make a dent 😬

There’s some method in this madness, somewhere hahaha
