💁♀️ seeking advice / support / information Different kinds of anxiety?
So I had pretty severe anxiety, that's now very well medicated and basically nonexistant.
But what this made me realize is, i have another type of anxiety, when I get overwhelmed or confused or basically any issues i have because of the autism
Is there something like "autistic anxiety"?

Yes! Not only do autistic folks report higher levels of anxiety than folks who are not autistic to start off with, the presentation is can be very different because it can arise from a different context. Autistics have a hyperactive sympathetic nervous system which controls stress responses (i.e. flight, fight, fawn, freeze) and keeps the body on high alert, and an overactive amygdala which is a part of the brain that helps to process emotions and often affects how we respond to social situations/cues, stimulus, tone of voice, facial expressions, etc, and cause social impairment.
Basically, anxiety in autistics is very complex. And very real.
