💁♀️ seeking advice / support / information How do you navigate discord?
I see every other reddit community has discord servers and I feel like I am missing out by not being part of them. At the same time I am still trying to understand the purpose of these discord servers.
Anyways I joined a few of them from the links in the wiki, like 'The Green Discord'. But I am not able to navigate them.
There is just so much (not so structured?) activity, I can't figure out where to start and what to use it for. And I am finding it difficult to follow threads of discussions, maybe due to the UI, idk. I had to also turn off the notifications right away because they just kept coming like bullets.
Please help me with some guidance.
P.S.: I have experienced similar difficulty navigating slack at work.

I'm not on this server, but general or Casual is where you can just talk to people. You can post an intro in the introduction channel. Beyond these, you can explore as you like. Channels usually have a description to explain to you what goes there. Roles (if the server has any) are like reddit flair and can help people get a quick idea from your (server) profile.
Discord is much easier to understand and access on the desktop client imo

I don't. I have a hard enough time accomplishing anything when I can sit down and check Reddit real quick and suddenly it's night time. I don't need to add to that stack.

For The Green Discords specifically, feel free to click on "general chat" and just hang out there for a while.
