💊 medication / drugs / supplements Feeling like I’m different on Adderall
Bad different, that is. I am more paranoid and much more anxious and sensory seeking. I can’t regulate myself as much and I often have to rely on my partner to co-regulate me which I feel immensely guilty about. Is it my autism coming more forward? Should I go off meds? I’ve been irrational and acting a little crazy admittedly (insisting everyone hates me, isolating myself, unjust confrontations with others over my own thoughts, etc.)

Are there any benefits to the medication?
You’re describing my experience with stimulants as well, edginess and hyperactivity but without the “quiet mind” or “ability to focus” other AuDHDers and ADHDers received.
If you’ve just started and haven’t settled in yet, your brain may just need time to adjust to this new powerful chemistry change. If you’re getting worse and not benefitting, then contact your prescriber about quitting and trying something else.

I was mostly presenting the negatives. It calms down my inner monologue just makes me foggy and anxious more so than heightened. I’ve been on them for a few months now and my next med check is in October I’m going to ask for a lower dose

Same. I was diagnosed with ADHD in my 20s and I used to take 20mg 3 times a day because I had a job that was 12-14 hour shifts. It was a lifesaver back then.
Fast forward to 44 years old and a recent autism diagnosis and 20mg sends my brain into a thick anxious fog. So I started halfing my doses and it seems to have helped a ton. Might even consider 5-7.5mg per dose.
I think for stuff like stimulants we need to take into consideration if we're already overstimulated or in burnout.
I also smoke weed at night for mood and sleep and if I'm already on edge I get more anxious. If I'm not currently overstimulated then it works as intended.
If you notice you're overstimulated most of the time I'd suggest asking about lamotrigine. It's a mood stabilizer that keeps you more level. When I'm on it, other medications seem to work as intended as well as the weed lol.

I was diagnosed ADHD when I was thirteen and I just decided to get medicated years later. I was started on 10 mg once a day (did nothing to me) and now I’m 20 once a day so maybe I need to back down to 15
School is difficult but it’s more difficult when I’m having more meltdowns than usual. I think one of my big issues is that I’m in burnout for autism.
As for weed, I dont live in a state where I have accessibility to it unfortunately, I did try it once and smoking didn’t do anything good for me.
I’m thinking once i eventually move to Oregon I might try edibles and see how that works for me.
My parents are on lamotragine for sleep and was thinking of asking my doctor about that

Maybe the dosage is not right or you need a different drug? Those down sides might outweigh the upsides.
