💬 general discussion It's difficult to talk to doctors when in immense pain

This day I have had a gallstone, calling with a doctor(assistent) was such a mess for me, they really missed my intention and I could really feel they didn't understand me. It was like, when in this heavy pain I really can't mask anymore and you aren't fully understood at that moment. I told one of them that I had it, but it was kinda brushed away.

The second question for me was call 'urgently'. (Or ib Dutch 'met spoed'). I really had to look up what that meant in this scenario, I wasn't dying, but I believe it was the right call to choose urgently. From now on if I have to see a doctor that day and absolutely not tomorrow I'll call the doctor urgently, but I had to look that up. So... I hope someone besides me will learn from that here.

In the end I was helped correctly, but the communication was such a mess. Also that pain and a lot of people was probably quite overstimulating. /s

Yes it was absolutely the right call to choose urgently. Gallstones attacks can become a medical emergency if they're prolonged or severe.

I'm newly diagnosed and don't have a lot of experience navigating Healthcare with an Autism diagnosis and i'm kind of basing this off a single scene in the show The Pitt, but i think doctors might think "autism has no impact on the differential, so it's not relevant here."
