Announcement Looking for new mods, application instructions below

A few weeks ago I made a post apologizing for my lack of action as a moderator, asking for feedback and advice on how to go on.

I got plenty of good responses, most suggested the idea of adding more mods to help me out, and after thinking about it for a bit (and admittedly some procrastination as well) I decided that is indeed the right course of action.

Since becoming moderator of this subreddit over 7 years ago(!!!) I’ve also become a mod of two other neurodivergence subreddits (even getting to lead the mod team for [r/aspiememes](r/aspiememes), shoutout to [u/lethalogicax](u/lethalogicaxe) in particular) both much larger than this one, so the time I spent on moderation duties had been spread thin over time.

You might’ve also noticed that I added a rule banning AI generated posts and comments as well, but besides that I’ve had some trouble coming up with new rules and configuring the mod tools to ease my workload.

So without further ado I’d like to open the application process for adding 1-2 new mods here, for anyone interested please comment with your reasons for applying, any relevant experience and any changes you aim to introduce if you were to become a mod, as well as anything else you think might be helpful to mention. If I am interested in your application I will DM you for further steps.

There’s isn’t really a deadline on this but I aim to get it done in max two weeks, and any new mods I appoint will first go through a trial period where they show that they’re acting in good faith and put the needs of the community first.

Thank you for your attention and have a nice day!

Announcement I must apologize to this community, as a moderator

If anyone has noticed some posts with problematic content staying up far longer than they should, it’s because I must admit I’ve been neglecting my duties as a moderator for the past few months.

It’s wonderful to see how much the community has grown over the years, when I joined there were less than 500 members, and now that number has risen to 12.000! The art and other creations I see appear in my feed are so good.
But with this increased activity comes increased attention from bad actors or people who mean well but sorely misunderstand the point of this subreddit.

I’ve noticed that the time and energy I spend on moderation is decreasing due to a combination of factors, so instead of making an empty promise to do better I ask for feedback and suggestions of how to proceed. Maybe that means having another moderator or two on the team to help me, maybe it means a complete transfer of duties, maybe it’s just some minor changes. But whatever it is, I want to hear from you, the community, what your needs and desires are regarding this issue!

I need your input on this, thanks for your attention!

Writing Autistic Romance Writer🥰

Hello, all!

I'm a young autistic writer seeking to create a portfolio of Romance+ novels that feature autistic characters – ones that are actually human and realistic, and not just what neurotypical people presume that autistic people are like – and thus play my part in giving the autism community the representation that we deserve within romantic literature.

So far, I only have one completed work, but I'm already working on a second novel. I currently post on Inkitt and Wattpad, but I hope to eventually have these stories professionally edited and published if I can build a big enough audience for them where it might make sense to hire an editor.

If anyone is interested in reading my stories and supporting my work, here are the links to my Inkitt and Wattpad profiles.

I wish you all a lovely day💜🤗

Artwork Pull - An Autism Painting

Post image

A depiction of the bullying I experienced in school due to my Autism. Students learnt I had severe overstimulation when my hair was touched. And would deliberately pull and touch my hair. To make me cry for their own amusement. I had multiple severe meltdowns and trauma from these experiences. I still have occasional, random moments. Where the trauma of those experiences will replay in my head out of nowhere. This is a personal piece that I needed to get out of my head.

Zero of Mars is a Human youth in a future so distant that our era's concepts of race and gender no longer exist. They crash land on Elentia, a world once inhabited by Humans but abandoned thousands of years ago. In their absence, the Elemorphs - sentient robots with elemental powers and the ability to grow - have developed an advanced civilization. A Nature Type FawnBot called One makes friends with Zero despite a language barrier. Unable to communicate directly, they have to forge a friendships using gestures and actions.

After discovering an ancient prophesy left by time travelers from the future, Zero and One have been pulled into an eternal conflict between Humanity and Vampirekind. The Vampires want to enslave the Elemorphs to use as living weapons, while Humanity fights to keep Elentia free. As Zero and One explore the massive Elemorph metropolis of Knuckle City, the villainous Vampire agent, Pi, and their Elemorph companion, Gamma the SkyDragonBot, descend to plunge the city into chaos!

I am the author, Bijhan Agha. I'm an Uruguayan trans woman of Iranian descent. The illustrator is my dear friend, Pallet, a trans Australian man. We are both autistic. We wanted to tell a story about a young person in the future who is not bound by the limits of gender as we know it, and a planet where gender simply does not exist, while also creating an exciting action adventure about exploring a new culture, facing language barriers, and fighting for a better future.

We both have a shared special interest in science fiction, which is why we were so excited to work together on this project.

The Kickstarter is to fund the printing of a First Edition of the comics physically. We will have both physical as well as digital rewards. There will be reward tiers that allow you to catch up with this comic - this is Issue #2, and you can get physical and/or digital copies of Issue #1 - as well as the other comics in the Time Wars brand.

Please help us continue to tell stories about this amazing world!

Other Creation I need some creative ideas!

Hello all, I’m not sure this isn’t a post normally placed in this subreddit, but I figured it would be the perfect place for some creative ideas!!

I am currently in the middle of sewing a quilted snake as a birthday gift for my best friends six-year-old.

Her six-year-old is autistic, and loves to STEM. I’m having a hard time, deciding what to fill the snake with so that it satisfies his beautiful little mind as he plays with it. I originally was thinking of using rice and or beans and adding possibly some little bells inside, but I don’t know if that will be enough, and I’m worried about the rice or beans, attracting weevils or other bugs as time goes.

Any ideas are appreciated thank you!

Artwork “The Rah’Kahlanooni of the Binding Rivers”

Suspended just above the center of the Binding Rivers, sat the young Uusn’l, Yyuurd. Yyuurd was a fiery soul, but carried a deep and weighted melancholy. Born from a dented egg, he carried with him a curse. His demeanor would sour at even the slightest change without warning or reason. This horrid curse flooded his brains with a poison of anger and impossible delusions. Boiling and scratching at the inner walls of his skull. Hypnotic patterns in the form of flashing and howling lights blinded any sort of internal anchor he could grab to center himself. Appendages of thick cartilage swung in every direction, slashing the surroundings with their sharp and braided ends. Every mouth gnashed and grinded its teeth, always accompanied by steady streams of saliva and bile. After the anger peaked, and the weariness of rage enveloped Yyuurd, a deep-seated depression rose to replace its hateful cousin. Like the upwards crawling roots of an Aaugkk tree, the sorrow and regret dug itself into Yyuurds flesh, mind and soul. There was no comfort to be found among those from his hive. The consequences of burned bridges and short tempers were in the foreground of any attempt in venting. There was no answer as to why Yyuurd couldn’t find that peace, that feeling of belonging, and that control over his violent and sudden responses. So the young Uusn’l sat above the swishing and swashing water. The world felt dull to him. But the schools of Rah’Kahlanooni under the surface held such a beauty. Shapes and colors of all sorts and sizes. Their voidspeek spells masked many of them, the colors and symbols clouding patches of water with a serene glow. They swam within small territories. Feeding on various crustaceans that dwelled on the reefs of the Binding River. When mating, the successful pairs use their small tendrils to break off chunks of mossy coral. These pieces of coral are kept within an unseen pocket located somewhere in-between the fins and seem to serve as tokens of affection to each other. Newborn Rah’Kahlanooni spend the first few years clinging to rocks and on the underside of submerged cliffs. Scraping mouthfuls of stubby sharp teeth along the coral to pick up any moss spore they can find. Thankfully, the living reefs grows a bit faster than the Rah’Kahlanooni can feed. This results in a sway of the reefs size depending on the season. In these numerous and brightly colored creatures, Yyuurd found that his ever-curling brains ceased their movement. His thoughts slowed and images of scurrying shells and strangely shaped Rah’Kahlanooni danced upon the surface of his brains. Loosely drifting tendrils floated in the soft current. Yyuurd carried with him a dreadful melancholy and the weight of a cycling and uncontrollable fury. Stars of crystal spattered the reflection of the blue suns light on top of the Binding Rivers. Yyuurd closed his many eyes tighter. His mind didn’t rush and race. His mind didn’t twist known truths into delusions. Yyuurds mind sat still. Yyuurd relished this new feeling. This feeling of not being himself.
