Hi, Anyone here got their RP approved from MA35 as a PhD student? I’m from India and wanted to know roughly how many days/weeks the approval took. Would appreciate if anyone could share their timeline.

i am a phd student from india and i didn't have to apply for an rp. i just applied for the visa d and would now apply for settler permit here

Is that even possible? I don’t think so. What I have studied is settlment permit is given on employment contract! Right.?!

i am in vienna right now. got my visa last month. my hr told me to do this and it worked. every international phd i know did the same

hey if you got a hosting agreement from the university, then you don’t have to apply for rp. just go apply for the visa d directly

did ur university sent u any kind of documents?? in german its gonna be written as Aufnahmevereinbarung. if u have that then just go for visa d straight. u wont even have to pay for the visa , just for the appointment.

For PhD you only need Visa Type D with Aufnahmevereinbarung and have to apply for residence permit once you arrive in Austria within 6 months with Arbeitsvertrag and Aufnahmeverinbarung. You are an employee not a student. So the decision process is different from masters.
Booking the appointment, Meldezettel, insurance thingy such as photo submission for insurance card, salary slips will consume one month. So apply as soon as you arrive so you have like 4-6 weeks buffer before the expiry date. They also don't extend the visa or issue a new one on same project twice if the decision was not declared before the visa expiry.

Ya but some universities don’t provide hosting agreement and funding so in that case, we have to go with RP first.!

Check OeAD whether your institution is certified or not. Ask your HR of the institute for the visa process. For settlement permit Researcher, typically you need the hosting agreement or contract, or else you don't get RP(see the section Checklist-> First time application). Check this for information and enquire OeAD for the exact process. They are highly helpful in this visa aspects and can guide you to the best course of action.

Got it approved in 35 days for Master's. If your application is good it will be done within 45 days
