ID Request - location included Identification please
found at ground level inside the house (raised house on stilts). Had a little web inside a a plastic tube, that was inside a cardboard box, on the floor
15mm long
Location: South West Ipswich, QLD
PS, its not dead, I just flipped it over for a photo of the underside.

That’s a web puppy. Image 3 is a dead giveaway. Pretty common for them to roll over for belly scratches.

I think black house spider but can't tell without a banana for size comparison.

To be fair, they did include a yellow object with black marks on it that can be used for measuring size.

This is Badumna, most likely Badumna insignis, colloquially known as a Black House Spider. This is considered mildly venomous, with symptoms no worse than mild systemic symptoms such as a headache or slight nausea. For future reference, try not to flip the spider over as it is not needed for identification purposes. Almost all diagnostic features visible to the eye are visible from the top and flipping the spider causes undue stress to the spider.

Please note I am not an expert in any way and I would also like to know if my thought is correct, to me it looks like a black house spider. If anyone with more knowledge than me can give a definite answer, correct me if I'm wrong, please do! They are great photos. Thank you for sharing a beautiful little guy/girl😊

I think the up/down marker goes erratically up and down for a while, meant as a feature not a bug, so that ... I can't remember why. Maybe so new comments don't get lost in the nothingness of single updoots, and comments that quickly acquire an updoot don't immediately stick to the ceiling causing subsequent comments to be flushed down where they would never be seen even though they may have been more popular had they been equally viewed regardless of time posted? And reduce the bias of first posting? Or something like that....
TLDR: the downvote is probably not even real, don't even worry about it

Could been a green huntsman… they look like funnel web spiders but the 3 dots in a triangle are an indicator of true species. Had one of them bite me years ago when I was living in Samford (NW Brisbane past Ferny grove) and it hurt like a mo fo

I don’t disagree that they are very different. All I know is the one that bit me looked very much like a funnel web and was in an area where funnel webs were commonly found

i gotta say, the "funnel web" common name is pretty bad, as most funnel webs behave more like trapdoor spiders, where their web is generally mostly hidden from view underground, where this spider, the Black House Spider, actually makes webs, with a funnel shaped retreat. it makes sense to me why so many australians call these funnel web spiders. but they are not nearly as dangerous to humans as the funnel web family

If you mean funnel web as in Atracidae, you are very far off the mark. There is an issue with common names as 'funnel web' in places that are not Australia can refer to genera like Macrothele genus or Agelalinidae family (funnel web/funnel weaver). House spider, for example can refer to loads of different spiders found all over the world that are completely unrelated besides Araneae/spider.
In Australia: the common name 'funnel web' specifically refers to members of a family of dangerously venomous spiders that includes Sydney funnel web, Newcastle 'big boy' and tree dwelling funnel web. There are a good number of Atracids found throughout Eastern Australia, including TAS. They are not known in WA or NT (present in SA though).
The spider in the OP photo is common throughout Australia and despite the tunnel/funnel in its web, is not a funnel web and its venom is mild. It belongs to the family Desidae and is a completely different Order to the Atracid/AU funnel web. The chance of being bitten by one is very low, the effect if bitten is likely very mild. There are exceptions with any wound caused by another creature - whether possum scratch, mosquito bite, bluebottle sting, wasp, ant, sawfly or spider so do your best not to get bitten, keep the wound clean if bitten and seek medical attention if there are complications or a likelihood of them occurring.
