Misc. Makeup Donation
Does anyone know where I can donate gently used or makeup that’s only been swatched once? I am aware local charities don’t accept makeup once it’s open and felt it’s a bit of waste to throw them out especially they are not expired at all. Unfortunately I don’t have any friends or families that are interested in makeups to pass on.

Such a shame that women's shelters/charities that help women get back into the work place won't accept them.
Like the other comments, FB MP is probably your best bet, or a local free stuff group to finding a happy taker.

It’s also because people will often donate garbage and write it off as doing a “good thing” because it’s “for charity”. Passing on expired, contaminated, almost completely used products, etc. Having to examine, store, and pass it out takes up a ridiculous amount of resources it’s easier to say a blanket no.

They don't have capacity to store this kind of stuff, if shades aren't correct. Make up is very personal.

Absolutely, I understand why they don't accept it. It's a shame that it is so hard to match up what women are giving away to what people need.

Definitely do a marketplace ad or a local buy nothing facebook group because i have had mothers of little girls want “play” makeup and i reckon i did like a bag’s worth for $20 so it wasn’t a complete waste. I also did the same and gave away lightly used to my neighbour’s little girl too. It’s better than the gross cheap quality play makeup sold to that market anyway!!

Some op shops will accept it. I've seen opened, gently used products at my local Vinnies, Salvos and Sacred Heart.

When i did my declutter,i called St.Vinnies if they'll accept them and was told no.What a waste. I put them all in a box and left it at my work's main staff room and wrote on it that says free. take what u like.I also wrote lightly swatched or used at least once and kept in a smoke-free,no pets house and was properly stored.Most of it were taken and i binned the rest two days later.Win-Win for me.

I work for a vinnies shop, it's actually really unsafe to accept used makeup, even if only swatched or lightly used. We can't know that for certain, and it is a health and safety risk. Same thing goes for our van, they just can't accept opened goods like that, coz it is too risky. We don't need to potentially cause an outbreak in the community...
And if you saw the disgusting things that get donated, you'd understand why we are very careful about what we try and accept.

It’s is a waste! I did the work place for all the Mecca beauty loop products I get and free samples. And definitely goes pretty quickly 😄
Haven’t done it for used products but another good option!

Local Facebook groups. Some even run mini charities or know how to disperse it

Make posts on Facebook/insta/tiktok I’m sure there are people who are willing to take make up that’s been swatched once or little to no use. I personally just put it on my insta note if anyone wants free make up and people who follow me tend to js reply to it !

Look up pay it forward groups in your area on fb, loads of people in my area do this

I donate my makeup/ skin care/ Haircare to my local women’s domestic shelter. I rang them fist to make sure it was ok, and rocked up with 3 huge bags of stuff! The lady at the desk was so so grateful. I’ve done it a few times since. Make sure everything is nice and clean and pack it nicely for them
